I have an older maytag gas dryer..not sure what model.. the igniter glows orange, the flame ignites and goes for awhile.. but no warmth going into the dryer at all.. and the clothes take forever to dry, like its set to air fluff... I don't understand why it won't get hot if the flame is coming on.. I don't know if this is supposed to happen, but after 2-3 minutes the flame cuts out, but the igniter lights it up again. I don't know anything about dryers or replacing parts, but I'll give it a try if anyone thinks it might help. Thanks!!
Many gas appliances have safety devices that all need to be functional or you will not be sucessfull in passing fuel to the burner assembly.
There are 2 or 3 electrically controled coils on the gas valve (electromagnetic), these lift a pin in the control and gas flows as requested, these can fail and are realatively inexpensive and easy to replace, $4-25 depending on how many and where purchased.
Other sensors are 2-limit thermostats, radiant sensor, heat sensors, motor temp sensor, humidity sensor, switches (door etc.) all must function in the system to allow correct performance, lastly control panel, also most problems involve cleanlyness of the entire system and all associted exhaust piping.
There are no appliances that are free from maintanance so all require inspections and regular cleanings.
It's probably a heating element in the dryer. I don't have a gas one; but my element has gone out before.

I am having the same problem... almost. I called for service and was told that gas dryers do not have heating elements. Only electric dryers. Gas dryers are all or nothing when it comes to heat usually. Or, the ignitor could be turning on too late or shutting off too early.
Problem is - at least near me - finding someone who will service gas dryers. No one around me seems to touch them.
My dryer won't get hot. I have read it could possibly be fuses, ignitor, or one other part i can't remember. I wanted to know what I need to be looking for once i pull off the front cover. This is my first time looking at one! DRYER WON'T GET HOT.
