Hi almnsori,

Try using the drive in the USB ports on the back of your computer. Or try it in a different computer. If it continues to fail then it is defective and needs to be replaced.

The disk driver is not formated do you want

Flash drives are composed of a memory chip/ storage and USB interface. The above message appears only when the USB interface is working but memory area is faulty. Unfortunately, the chip replacement is not possible.

To confirm that the problem is with the memory area, right click on my computer - goto manage, then disk management and look for flash drive. The flash will appear but no memory would appear.

Flash drives are mostly under warranty for atleast one year. Claim warranty, if possible.

Hope this helps!

When i attach my 4gb kingston usb then the usb do not work and a message appears that ,please insert a disk into drive G PLEASE SOLVE MY THIS PROBLEMM I AM VERY THANKFUL TO YOU

  1. Download and install the HP Drive Key Boot Utility
  2. Open the desktop icon and select the correct flash drive under device
  3. Select the file system you want to format to (FAT, FAT32, NTFS)
  4. Tick Quick Format
  5. Click start
  6. Officially this software (HP Drive Key Boot Utility) is meant for HP disks, but unofficially it seems to work fine at formatting most flash media, even digital camera cards.

"Plsase insert a disk in the drive" message for USB drive

Up to you,, if you put a flash drive into your USB port, and windows see's the drive, because its listed under my computer, but when you go to open the drive it says, please insert disk

This is telling you the flash drive has failed.

The only good thing is, if you have anything on the drive, there are programs that will extract the data from the drive so you don't lose it.

You have three options,

Extract the data that is on the drive.

Try a repair program, which can erase the drive when it tries ti repair it.

Send the flash drive to the company for repair.

No access to USB drive when inserted (Windows). ''Malfunction'' error message.

Sometimes when a flash memory stick fails because it was not removed from the USB port properly. If the device is removed by just pulling it out of the USB port, it can cause the flash device to fail, you must click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Task Bar and select the device you wish to remove and only do so when instructed to do so.

When the flash memory device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restore it by reformatting it. Insert the flash drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Healthy.

You need to format the external drive. Format the drive as primary drive and in FAT32. (FAT32 will allow data to be exchanged between MACs and PCs).
Insert the external hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Health

Recognize but cannot open

Are you selecting the correct drive? Usually the message comes from a multi memory card reader with no memory card inserted. Do you have one of those? This drive should say "removable disk". You may need to force a new drive letter for the memory stick.

Go the disk management program in windows. It will tell you moreabout the status of the drive What windows are you running -XP? Then, with the stick inserted, right Click "My Computer" and choose manage. Then disk management and find the USB drive and see what is says. You can force a new drive letter here as well.
