The updates for the newer itunes are specifically for the itouch and iphone. You may need to update but it should have popped up with this info when you plugged it in. If you contact Apple, they will tell you to reinstall itunes which is a pain but you might as well do it becasue it may work and they won't talk to you untill you've tried it. (Just in case it doesn't reload your music automatically you can tell itunes where it is at. In the file tab, there is an option for Add Folder and you can tell it where the itunes music folder is at.) They will also ask you to try another cable. This is a small chance with a new cable but you should check it anyways. If you have done this and reset you itouch you should go ahead and get on their site. It is a common problem but usually in older ipods. If you live in a city that has an Apple store you can ask their Genious Bar. Good luck.

Simply drag your downloaded music into your Itunes library and then sync the music with your Ipod that way.

I guess because i bought it from craigslist and the old owner info. is still there it wont sync. Is there a way to change all info. on the ipod

restore your ipod touch using itunes,
plug in onto computer, open itunes, on the summary tab click restore, wait for it to finishe
after that it would act like brand new and even ask for a new ipod touch name for you..

Uninstall itunes from your computer and re-install the same itunes version you had before. Make sure your ipod is fully charged and then plug it in and have a go at it.

Cheers old chap.

My ipod wont sync! HELP!!

I assume your iPod still functions OK as an MP3 player?

Are you wanting to automatically sync your iPod with your library, or drag the songs from your library onto your iPod?

You can modify the settings to auto sync or not, by attaching your iPod to your PC. In iTunes, highlight your device, and from the main window you can change the sync settings.

If this doesn't work, then try and reset your iPod - you do this by holding down the menu and center buttons until the "Apple" symbol reappears.

As a last resort (if the above doesn't work) you can restore your iPod, but this will set it back to it's factory state - wiping all of the music, videos etc off of your iPod (but it will not remove anything from your computer). In iTunes, select your device, and from the main window, click on the Restore button and follow the onscreen prompts.

My home button wont work i press it and it doesnt do nothing i have the ipod touch 1st generation

hi guys dont worry about it. its not really a major problem because sometimes the ipod has really really tiny malfunctions like this and no, im not from the apple store so dont ask anyway all you have to is this: plug in your ipod to the computer using the usb cable. now it should say that it is syncing if not, sync your ipod. while it is syncing, press cancel sync on your ipod touch and it should cancel and take you back to the home screen. This shouldnt happen again but if it does, at least you have a way to return to your home menu cya :)

My ipod 5.5 gen video wont sync with itunes on my laptop and only sometimes charges. can anybody help please. its be a present for my ma (mother) for christmas

To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including: ipodnano3.jpg ipodclassic.jpg icon_ipod_5g.gif ipodnano2.jpg ipodnano.jpg ipodphoto.gif ipodg4.gif ipodmini.gif
  • iPod nano (3rd generation)
  • iPod classic
  • iPod (5th generation)
  • iPod nano (2nd generation)
  • iPod nano
  • iPod with color display (iPod photo)
  • iPod (Click Wheel)
  • iPod mini
  • iPod mini (2nd generation)
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
