Without knowing if you have a desktop or laptop it is not possible to be specific. Some A4 webcams have 2 plugs -one that goes into a USB slot in the computer and the other round one is the mic jack. Desktops normally have these connections in the rear. Laptops to the side.
Download the software from the A4Tech support Website, with the webcam disconnected. Select the first 2 letters of your model in the first box and then scroll down the options in the second box to find the remaining characters
http://www.a4tech.com/downloads.asp
You cannot use the Yahoo Mail IM feature for webcams - You will have to download the Yahoo Messenger program
In addition to the webcam set up you will need to check the support software - 1) Internet Explorer - IE is coded with Yahoo Messenger and responsible for most functions - Signing in, games, etc. You do not need to make it your default browser but keep it up to date and clean. 2) Microsoft DirectX . This comes pre-loaded on most Windows computers but has to be updated - I am currently on version 11 To start the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click 'Start', click 'Run', type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK Run through the tabs checking the 'notes' windows for information The version will be shown on the 'Systems' tab
YAHOO MESSENGER WEBCAM SET UP Plug in your webcam and visit this site - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel. Do not proceed if the camera fails to work here, but concentrate on your webcam software / drivers

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to Yahoo Messenger 10.
COMPATIBILITY WITH YAHOO MESSENGER
You MUST use Internet Explorer to visit this page, with your webcam plugged in, to check compatibility and automatically download the latest webcam control. Make sure your webcam broadcasts on this page before moving on
CONFIGURE SOFTWARE Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the Yahoo software may have difficulty in locating it. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in, if yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager. Of all the chat programs, Yahoo is the most painful software to set up but if you follow these instructions you should be ok.
INTERNET CONNECTION Webcam connected Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK

This will launch an invitation on your contacts screen when they 'Accept' your webcam broadcast will start- There can be considerable time lag ( +1 minute) before they see you, so don't be too impatient ( You can check the status on the bottom left of your webcam panel. You can 'drag and drop' the frame to a convenient location by grabbing the top border.
Your contacts may need to configure their connection the same as INTERNET CONNECTION above (Ignoring webcam connected) if they get a "webcam not connected" message
Sometimes you may have to broadcast the 'small image' option from the 'Webcam' menu on the top of your image frames. This happens when one of you is down on resources -its like sending a large photo by email - its quicker if you cut the size down you can zoom up to 200% from the same menu when the webcam picture comes through
Use the 'Always on top' option from the 'webcam' menu - or your image will disappear under the message window when you type a message
I guess you are using Yahoo Messenger If you want to keep your webcam image on top of the chat window make this setting When your webcam is broadcasting use the 'Webcam' meu on the top border of your image and select 'Always on top'

Your cam has no bearing on being able to see other people's webcams. In fact you can still view them if you do not have a webcam I guess from your message you are both in Yahoo Messenger I suggest you both check your settings

1) When you buy a webcam it normally comes with a CD. You have to play the CD to download the software to your computer. Only connecting the webcam when prompted.
2) If you do not have a CD you can go to the webcam manufacturer's support website, identify your cam and operating system and download from there
3) If you have Vista you can plug your webcam in and let the computer find the software for it.
4) Check your programs to make sure you do not have any redundant webcam software installed that may cause conflicts.
Follow the instructions hopefully this solves for you

Is your microphone integrated into your webcam? Make sure the correct device is selected. Go into Edit, Settings, Enhanced IM. Under Audio and Video, make sure the Microphone device selected is a functioning mic, such as Logitech Mic, or if using a headset, select the USB headset (if usb) or your sound card if using a mic plugged into your built in or add-on sound card.
