In a case like this when the lcd is broken the only way to fix it is to get it replaced. Best thing to do is to go on Ebay or thru google and do a search for your laptop model number and lcd and figure out the best price.
If it's a tecra 8100 model, the power on password can be removed. You can either make your own parallel port adapter that will short out the password (I've done that), or you can buy one (like on ebay) and that'll get your bios password removed.
Your laptop is not new enough for winxp. There are no drivers for it.Im surprised that the BIOS let you install it.
I would try to use the win2000 drivers, they may work.
