Question about Toshiba 72MX196 72 in. HDTV Television
My Toshiba 72MX196 DLP rear projection TV is just over 11 mos. old and when I turned it on, the indicator light stayed blue but no picture. Tried different input selections and across the screen got 3 columns of horizontal strobing lines across the screen in all green, then all pink. Toshiba told me to power down the tv and unplug it for 1 min. to reset the chip and it worked. TV working fine for another 8 days and it happened again when I turned tv on, same problem. Had to unplug to reset for picture to work. Any suggestions to why this is happening? I have a home theatre sound system and satellite hooked up to it.
SOURCE: Power light flashing/ no picture
I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.

Likely to be the STK convergence chips causing a protection circuit to switch the TV off. Have you got any onscreen convergence problems (i.e, colour fringes)?

You have done all you can do. If you had a power outage, when the power came back on a it surged and probably caused a Power Supply problem or something in the micro controller to fail. Either way it 's not good. I would call Toshiba and let them guide you to a Service Facility that can check it out. Depending on your Homeowners Insurance, repairs could be coverd or unit be replaced depending on cost to repair.
Sorry I am not able to help further,
