It should either be in the settings for the card, (software) the control panel around network connections or the card on device manager.

Need to know what pci card to buy for a 830 gateway computer to make it wireless

Any Pci wireless card should do, although I'd go for a trusted make like Belkin, or Netgear. You basically want one with the following specification. (as an example)

I only have one PC in my house and it's not in the same room where the cable outlet is located. Right now I have a very long coax cable running from my cable modem to the cable outlet in the other room. Is...

Purchase either a USB stick that adds wireless capability to your laptop/desktop, or purchase a PCI wireless adapter-card for your desktop, and install it.

Then, you can move the cable-modem much closer to the cable-outlet, and then connect the cable-modem to a newly-purchased wireless-router ($20 to $70) to receive/transmit over your in-home wireless network.

What should i use for the best experience using my pc and my hdtv as one and being able to use one at a time.

With your computer you will need a vga splitter and vga extension cable to reach your tv. You will also need an 1/8" stereo to rca adapter and an rca cable to reach that tv. These are all available at radio shack.

My Gateway GT5654 desktop just quit in the middle of me working. A blue screen came up and before I could even read anything but crash it turned off. Now when I turn it on it just goes to the gateway...

Based on my experience, the most probable cause of your problem is the RAM. Try Cleaning the RAM first by removing it from the slot, and rub the pins with a pencil eraser. As shown on the image below: 263dfab.jpg

Then re-install it to the motherboard. If problem persist, you may need to replace your RAM.

Note: If you have two RAMs on your pc, might as well clean them both, and then test each RAM to find out if either one of them or both are busted.

Had a power surge... a of my external harddrives work; however, can't get either computer to power on... Gateway GT5654 or my wife's Gateway GT5408.. on my wife's motherboard, there is a green light......

You can get a powr supply for this, but if the surge went passed that and smoked the motherboard then your going to need to replace that as well but a new poer supply should shore this up and you can get them from frys.com,tigerdirect.com you be glad you did!
