Had the same problem on my JVC vcr/dvd combo unit.
You need to turn off the timer function. I did this by making sure my remote was in the "VHS" mode...turn the swith from TV to the right (found on the remote in the upper left corner...an then hit the "vcr" button. Then point the remote at the VCR unit and hit the No. 4 button (timer turns off). Your unit should not have the red timer displayed and you should be able to play your tapes okay.
Hi, have you tried this? It worked on my LG player. 1. Open DVD tray 2. Press "0000" on the remote. 3. A screen will appear saying NEW REGION CODE displaying the current one. 4. Press "0" for all zones. 5. Press the "select" button on the remote. 6. Close the CD tray. 7. Power off
My grandmother had the same problem. Whenever you press "timer set" to set the timer, it automatically turns off the VCR and whenever you turn it back on the VCR is locked and it's stuck on DVD. All you have to do is press "timer set" to unlock the VCR side. Then you may have to press "VCR" to switch it back. Hope this helps.
