Question about Sony WEGA KE-32TS2 32 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

Open Question

Sony ke32ts24 (or 2u?), sound but no picture

Seems ok in all aspects except no light (picture) on screen at all. I haven't looked into how plasmas work, so I can't begin to guess where to look for the faulty module.

Does anyone know if this is a replace-module unit? Which is most likely module to replace?(guess that's like asking for the best lotto number?)

thanks for the help.

SOURCE: sony Tv PFM-42 V1 doesn't show any picture or tv menu

This is a common problem with plasma tvs You did not mention whether you could generate any sound like through your dvd player or something like that. Whether you have audio or not makes a difference on which board may be causing you the problem. Just because it does not have a picture for tv viewing does not mean it won't produce some type of sound through your av1 input. Try it and I'll try to be more specific.

SOURCE: 2004 sony wega 37'' plasma tv not turning on.

You most likely have a power supply problem. but the problem may not be the actual power supply. The drive cicuits for the plasma panel can load down the power supply and give you the symptoms that you are having. Without being able to be there and take voltage measurements, I'm afraid I can't narrow it down more than that. My first suspect is that one or more of the sustain boards (the boards that drive the plasma panel) have failed. That would explain the lack of display. It is likely one of 3 boards that has failed, PSU (power supply) logic (the main control board for the set) or DE2 (panel drive board). There is a chance that the panel itself is bad, but that is not the most likely cause of your problem

SOURCE: My Sony plasma tv made a pop sound and now picture is dark.

You will need the y and x sustain boards replaced, possibly the buffers. very expensive repair. you can replace one board but its best to do all of them.

SOURCE: My Sony KDL-32M3000 has dark

It will be either BM board (Video Processor board) or Tcon Board (top side of panel). I have similar problem...my TV turns on, lamps turns on (you can see them from back side panel holes) but just a dark blue picture appears with no image (like picture when external input is selected without signal), no OSD appears....some times I can heard audio (using Antena).
I'm thinking getting the BM board.

It seems that the width of the displayed picture is less than normal. Change the aspect ratio to 4:3, and check. Go to picture setting menu to adjust the aspect ratio. Check its user manual for more details.

I cannot see the entire picture on my screen. The sides of the picture makes the show seem as though it goes off scrren. Is it my picture tube? If so, how much do they cost?

Is this with everything you view? Make sure you haven't changed the "aspect ratio". Look at the main menu for something like "format" or aspect ratio. Generally in an older TV like that one you should have an auto or native setting.

2 vertical bars on the right side of screen, thay are black, has picture and sound but no thing in the bars

That's because your aspect ratio is 4:3. To get the picture to fill the whole screen change the aspect ratio to 16:9. You can do this by pressing the aspect button on the remote (right above the channel + button) and changing it to different sizes such as cinema, panorama, and full. Try all the options and see which one like best.

Ok, so I need help. My mother just bought a flatscreen tv from best buy and had it delivered today by the Geek Squad. However, the picture makes the people look fat and the sound is tin-like. She can't...

The people look fat and stubby is due to trying to display pictures that were made for old TV 4:3 aspect ratio and you are now trying to fill in the TV screen that has 16:9 aspect ratio. The only way for you to see proper pictures is to set the aspect ratio to 4:3 mode or set it to automatic to let the TV select correct aspect ratio of the pictures, the bad part is that you will see black bars on the left and on the right of the pictures, see more details with regarding to the aspect ratio in the user manual.

Display IC seems to have gone. It will be a replaceable module. Only you have to figure out which one it is. Such thing happen in electronics. Look for any burnt or bulged IC.
