Question about Canon EOS 40D Digital Camera
When I turn the camera on and push the shutter button, the camera will not focus and it will not make the shutter work and it makes a clicking noise as if it is having an electrical misfiring in the camera. Do I have the wrong setting(s) or does the camera need to be repaired?
Took to a camera store and they put my lens on a different camera body and lens didn't work. So the problem is the auto focus in the lens itself. It is nothing I can fix myself. I am now sending it to Canon for repair - hopefully won't need a new lens! Thanks for the help!

I'm sorry to tell you this but you do NOT have anything set wrong. To test my theory turn your camera to full auto. Next make sure your switch on the lens is set to auto. Then just try taking some shots of some objects across the room. If that doesn't allow you to take pictures do the exact same test with a different lens. That way you've taken the lens out of the equation. Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer but I'm pretty sure you'll need to return the camera to cannon.
