My children have had the mat for one day and have managed to create big water marks on it.. they spilt large amount of water on it and after it dried it now looks like a water damaged ceiling (lol) im curious if i threw it in the washer and dryer if i could get the stains to go away.
It says on the packaging not to wash them in a machine, so I would avoid doing that. If you use a damp to wet (but not soaking cloth and wipe it all over) then dry it gently by lightly pressing on it with a white towel the 'water mark' should come out. However, in our house it gets used so much that any of those just work themselves out over time!!

I would use the instant unit for a secondary unit to a large conventional heater, 40 gal min, gas or electric. They are both about the same now, but when the power goes out, you might not have the pump running, but you will have hot water! And whether it is a secondary or a primary water source, you will have a hot supply feeding it just in case. We have 2 people in the house, and a 30 gallon unit, and it is not big enough. The 40 gallon tank worked great. Hope this helps.
