Hi I have two sata drives installed and working fine. When installing a sata internal dvd drive the os does not boot. It is showing in the Cmos. I unplug it and the os starts. Thought it was the the cdrom drive. Tried leaving an external dvd drive in the usb ports and the os did not boot up either. Yet the external works fine when I plug it in when the os in done loading.

Did you check to make sure the sata interface in the bios is on. Not the RAID, just the sata. In the bios settings you'll find it under "Intergrated Peripherals/IDE Device Configuration". Make sure you enable both SATA1/SATA2 and SATA3/SATA4 if your not sure what plug you have your drive plugged into. Good luck.

The universally accepted HDD is the IDE, why are you trying to make it with a SATA? With a IDE you will avoid all the troubles. Yes! SATArequires a change in the BIOS. We can help you do the change, if you know how to do it. Playing with BIOS can cause the entire MB to burn out and destroy itself.

3GB Sata driver? i dident know there existed so smal drivers
Anyway, if your bios dosent detect the driver u probably need to update the bios drivers.
Go to MSI site:
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=158
Instal LIVE UPDATE and let msi check you computer for laterst drivers u need to instal
Good luck!

Sata drives are backwards compatable so should work no problem but some drives have a jumper that needs to be reset ,check the website for your drive.

I will advice you to exchange the HDD with someone or with brand new one as it seems to be problem with drivers of the sata.

Forgot xp pro for an os
cmos is showing both sata hard drives first. Tried changing boot order. Bois version is the most recent. Nothing seems to make a differnce. Thinking maybe sp3 could be the conflict. Any suggestions would be hepeful, thanks.
