I would start with the dvd format used for recording, the simplest being dvd+r and dvd-r. Does the unit play a pre-recorded dvd and/or cd? If not, the laser assembly would be the first suspect. The delay in reading discs can be a sign of a borderline laser. Is your record overwrite function turned on, this overwrites previous material when starting each new recording when using +-rw discs. Verify if a format is required for the type of disc used for recording, page 45. Is the correct country/region selected?
Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc
Original dvd disc, not copy or not another countries datas disc?Same country as the DVD player was bought and formatted Disc? Most likely the disc u trying to play it is in a difference formatted of recording or finalizing data codes inbeted by some patent coded program.Tries play many more other DVD discs, should work find, than the original disc,u trying to play have protected datas or difference format and not same as of ur DVD player main programming firmware.
If it is a DVD player, not a recorder, then it is not meant to format discs. DVD players are strictly playback only; they can only read and play discs; they cannot be formatted or recorded in any DVD player.
Only DVD-RW discs can be formatted. If it is a DVD-R and you have already tried recording on it, the disc will be unusable. If the disk is not formatting, it might be defective. Try using another disk in the drive to make sure it isn't your DVD drive itseld that is broken.
it would actually depend on the type of disc your using for you to be able to erase the contents of the disc and reuse that same disc for new recordings. it's called "formatting the disc". it deletes all recordings and returns the recording medium to its original empty state. this operation is possible if you are using dvd-rw or dvd+rw (re-writeable) discs only. please refer to pp.12-13 of your camcorder's instruction manual for more information about disc format features. hope this helps. thanks:)
If you are using a DVD-RW or DVD+RW, you can format the disc by performing "Format". You can format DVD-RW for either video mode recording or VR mode recording. DVD+RW can be format in order to erase all content of the disc.
You may not be able to reformat a disc that is not previously formatted by your recorder an example would be a. DVD disc formatted by PC or another recorder.
