Look at the fuse you pulled out. The rating is embossed on the side or end.

most electronic applications use what is known as a "slow blow" fuse and they are available fro electronic spares shops (JAYCAR and the like ) however if the fuse blows , you have a much bigger problem so take it to a repair shop and have the problem properly diagnosed

Curtis TV wont power on

Hello
Check the power supply regulator board inside. It has a fuse [ a glass cartridge type, replacable] on it. Check it for blown out. If found blown up, replace the fuse with same size and ratings. its ratings will be marked on it. If the newly inserted fuse blows off too, as soon as you switch the Set ON, never replace an other one in place, as it will damage more components.
make sure that the present power baord has some shorted component/s on it. It will be best to replace power regualtor boards as card basis, as components on it will be very hard to get from electonic spare part selling shops.

My Sylvania 32" Tv Model #SRT2232S won't turn

Hello
There is a fuse inside the power supply bard of your sylvania TV. Check whether it has blown out. If bllown out, replace it with same type bothe in size and amperage. If the newly inserted fuse also blow up as soon as you switch on the set, make sure that the power supply section has some short circuit in it, and should be cheked well. OK.

Philips TV 27PT6441/37 won't turn on - I know I need a 4 amp slow blow fuse. Will it be obvious where the fuse is located once I have the back cover off or will I need to find a schematic?

Yes it will be obvious and you don't need a schematic to find it. What you actually may need is an ohmmeter to find exactly what fuse is blown in case there are more than one fuse present. You can also find this symbol on the board that indicates the fuse. Sometimes this symbol is drawn inside a box.

We had a power outage. TV and video both now dead. Changes fuses in plugs, still dead. Could the fuses in the appliances be blown ?

HELLO

Power outages can damage electronic items!

It is certain that the fuses in each of the units power supplies will be blown but I would recommend that you get both in for servicing as sometimes changing the fuses INSIDE and trying them again CAN cause more damage - and more cost to repair.

Better to be safe than sorry! (:-)

Hi,
It takes a star driver if I am not mistaken to take the back off probably two different sizes one for the top bottom and sides and one size for where the rca jacks are.. I only recommend checking the fuse...if blown never put foil around it. Takes a 4 amp. 5 amp would be ok. Dont go over this. If the fuse is good you should take to a good tv repairman. If blown and blows the fuse you put in take to tv repairman. Anything past this is highly technical. Hope you have a blown fuse only.

JVC AV-36260 Is there a fuse in this TV or is it a circuit breaker, if it is where is the fuse / circuit breaker located. I am am electrical engineer, but can not find any specs on the inside of the unit

All modern TV's have fuse devices, some glass, some chemical.

However,a blown fuse comes from a short circuit, which I'm sure

you are well aware.Let's talk diagnosis--What is your set doing

or not doing?? Is it dead?==No "on"?? If there is no bad fuse, the

most common solution is a bad capacitor in the power circuitry

number sequence==900's. Ex..C953    value== 1000mf/35v.

Other caps in power supply may be weak.

2) Check Horiz output transistor---shorted? Look for blown B+

fuse + weak or open C523 1mf/160v in horiz drive circuit.Replace

horiz out with high-quality OEM transistor only.I use JVC only

on 32" size & bigger ( you have 36" ).

Let me know by rating this solution...thanks...T.

Power surge I think

If you do not get any clicking or sound when trying to turn on the TV set, most likely the main fuse went out. This is almost always due to something else blowing out along or making the fuse to blow out. DO NOT SIMPLY REPLCE THE BLOWN FUSE! If there is other shorts inside the set, and you replace the blown fuse, you can cause more damage to the TV set. The best way to test this set if the fuse is blown would be to hook up a 100 to 150 watt light bulb across the blown fuse, and if there is a short in the TV set the light bulb will glow bright and stay bright. If the bulb lights up and goes dim maybe just maybe you got luck so replace the fuse and see what happens. If the light bulkb stays bright, there is a short in the set somewhere and if you do not have a service manual and a good multimeter and a knowledge of how the TV power supply works, you really should call in a pro to assist you in the repair of this TV. there is just too much High Voltage inside these TV sets to be experieenting around inside of it. Good Luck.
