Question about GE Energy Star WCVH6260F Front Load Washer

1 Answer

THANK YOU! I was faced with a shredded gasket on our GE washer, a replacement gasket, and a one week wait time during Christmas for a repairman. Your instructions regarding the GE front loader were perfect. Basically you talked us through disassembling the unit. Now I need to deal with the fact that we have bought a lemon! rick@dolish.com

We just bought the same washer/dryer the Saturday after Christmas.  We have had problems with both.  HORRIBLE.  I am so mad that we spent $2k on this JUNK.  GE is scheduled to come out this Friday.  We purchased the set at Sears on our Amex.  We are wondering if anyone can help.  They are not lemons, they are just junk.

Why is my Samsung washer smoking during the spill cycle?

My Samsung washer has the same problem. Looking at it the gasket is being shredded by the drum and the rubber is burning. If it smells like burning rubber that is probably it. I do not know what caused this but I am going to just replace the gasket and see what happens

Refrigerator will not hold temperature lower than 44 degrees!!

I bet it's a GE Monogram? I have the SAME problem. Our refrigerator is stuck at 44 degrees. It was stuck at 47 degrees, but after 6 visits from the repairman we now have it down to 44 degrees! At first we didn't realize how bad it was, and we were eating food that was making us sick! My daughter was admitted into the hospital from severe intestinal problems and without getting into details... this has cost her health, and tens of thousands in medical bills.

We have thrown out a ton of food. The repairman has replaced a bunch of parts including a fan, a thermostat, replaced a switch, cleaned, checked the gaskets, replaced a thermostat control device, and possibly other stuff as I can't keep track anymore. He's has been coming 2-3 times per week for the last 3 weeks. And now says the ONLY thing it can be is a "leak" in the copper line. Since it is a sealed system he has to tap the copper line with a valve to check the pressure, and that valve will always have to stay in place once it is tapped. And we will have to have the freon filled every so often because valves will slowly lose the freon over time.

This GE monogram is suppose to be a top of the line GE appliance. Our entire kitchen is GE Monogram, and we have had many many problems with most all of the appliances. The dishwasher was replaced at approx. 4 years due to over priced service calls, and super expensive parts. GE wanted close to $300 for an upper dishwasher rack. It was less expensive to buy a new one.

Don't these appliance manufacturer's get it? They may save money on the manufacturing side, however they lost a customer for life. Not only did they lose me, they lost my daughter, my son, and my grandson.

These GE appliances that are built to fail end up filling up our landfills. GE should be embarrassed.

Possibly have your repairman check the copper line for leaks? We're waiting to see today if that will work.

Replace rubber gasket

Replace the machine with a top loader and you'll never have a leaking gasket again! Worked at National Linen for a while and the floors had drains in them and were always wet! Needless to say the pros have the same problem you do! ;)

GE Adora Frontload Washer shredding clothes

We were having the same problems with ripped clothing and longer cycles. Our rubber seal by the door has ripped twice now causing massive amounts of water to run out. I learned through other threads that many people are having these problems and was told that zipping up zippers and turning jackets and clothing with big heavy stuff on them in side out to protect from ripping the clothing and the rubber seal. I removed the panel on the front bottom of the machince and there is a small gray cover that housed the coin trap. Mine was clogged and once I cleared that out, my cycle times got better. I hope this was somewhat helpful. We definitely won't be purchasing another GE front loader!!

GE Washer

have they checked the door lid switch?..it could be intermittent also because if the switch is not close, it would not drain and spin anymore. try to bypass the switch temporarily by shorting it out then use it . becarefull because you can now open the door while it is spinning ad it is very dangerous.

Torn clothes

I've had this probelm as well and I suspect it to be the gasket that goes around the opening of the washer in your case(s). Mine is torn nearly halfway around and I believe the clothes are getting caught there. I called in for service two weeks ago but they keep telling me that the part is on backorder. Not a great problem to have with two toddlers!

GE Front Loader

We had our gasket tear as well. Called 6 different online vendors to find this part, WH08X10022, and finally found it at helpfulitem.com. I spoke with Mike who was great in helping me find the part and shipped out very quickly, from Lubbock, TX. to northern Arkansas. Replacement of the part took approximately 30 minutes and now we're back to washing clothes.

I do believe we'll be ordering a spare part just to keep on hand. With four kids, it is quite possible that we'll have it ripped again.
