Question about Sony SRF-M85V AM/FM/Weather/TV Radio
After power is pressed on the band choice immediately is replaced with a beep sound which brings up the time. With the time displayed none of the other mode or band choices are workable. Pressing the power button 3-5 times will bring on the radio for a second and then the beep and return to the time. thank you drchas

Had the same problem when I changed the factory settings by mistake. There is no "cancel" button in the remote or the set. What worked for me was to follow the directions on P. 22 of the manual and change the remote settings to DVD 1. This is done by holding the "Enter" button and pressing number 1 on the keypad simultaneously for more than 5 seconds. Then, you go back to the "Settings" screen with the "Settings" button, change the control back to DVD 3, and reverse the setting in the remote by pressing "Enter" and the number 3 this time. Remember to hold them down more than 5 seconds. Good luck!

Are you doing DESTRUCTIVE recoveries or are you doing NONDESTRUCTIVE recoveries? Try another hard drive in the machine and recover to that. Nondestructive recoveries replace the operating system without destroying the personal data. Its possible the original problem is propagating over to the recovered systems. Do a destructive recovery. Understand any data not backed up will be destroyed. Possible the original problem was a trojan virus.

These radios have a "**** shell" design and the flexible cable has a tendency to break with many cycles of opening and closing. This can lead to "flakey" operation. A repair kit can be had and installed but for a price. The kit is about 25 dollars and labor would be around 25 to 75 dollars.
