Re: camera won't work
You have to install either Skype or a messenger program in order to communicate with family and friends. Then you have to setup the Audio & Video. This info should help.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are
to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set
it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for
the Audio and Video to function properly. A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:
Go to TOOLS,
then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the
Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
click on the Video Settings.
camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your
friends and Family will now see and talk to you. B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set
it up as follows:
Go to Messenger
at the top left and click on it.
go down to Preferences and click on it.
and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to
the computer Audio Card.
go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click
on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on
the left window.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so
you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

The video software is streamlined, The webcam set-up still has to be made manually Plug in your webcam and visit this site - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel. Do not proceed if the camera fails to work here, but concentrate on your webcam software / drivers
Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to Yahoo Messenger 10.
COMPATIBILITY WITH YAHOO MESSENGER
You MUST use Internet Explorer to visit this page, with your webcam plugged in, to check compatibility and automatically download the latest webcam control. Make sure your webcam broadcasts on this page before moving on
CONFIGURE SOFTWARE Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the Yahoo software may have difficulty in locating it. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in, if yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager. Of all the chat programs, Yahoo is the most painful software to set up but if you follow these instructions you should be ok.
INTERNET CONNECTION Webcam connected Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK
TESTING > Messenger > My webcam - the warning panel will launch, click 'OK' and your webcam will start. You should be rewarded at this stage with your happy smiling face.
SET WEBCAM DEFAULT With webcam still running > Messenger > Preferences > Webcam Broadcast > Camera Source - set your webcam as default using dropbox. > Camera Settings - adjust settings to suit. > Apply > OK Take a note of any additional software, if you have multiple choice for Camera Source, you may wish to uninstall any redundant webcam software later to prevent conflicts
AUDIO Open Video and Voice - run through your default equipment and make a test call - click OK
PERMISSION OPTIONS > Messenger > Preferences > Webcam - make your default equipment selections and who you will allow to view you > Apply > OK
IN USE When you are both on line and wish to show your webcam > Actions > 'Invite to view my webcam'. Messenger 10:- > Actions > More Actions > invite to view my webcam. This will launch an invitation on your contacts screen
first you have to be sure that the driver for it is installed and working ..and to do that its better to try the camera on a instant messaging program like msn or yahoo messenger ...just open the program and try to sent someone an invitation to view your webcam ...or make a video call...If the camera is ok and shows images it means the driver is ok...and you have no image on the AMcap ..(from the all programs ) cause the preview is not on ...look for the preview on the options on the image window.. Another way to see if the camera is on and working just ..go to my computer folder and try to open the camera from there ..near the drives...if it works it means the same like the other .. If it doesn't work and is same black here ...right click on my computer ...choose properties than hardware ..and device manager ...Here look for the camera in the list and if it is not present click right on the computer and choose scan for hardware changes...This should make it visible even if it is in yellow ...which means the driver is missing ...and in this case you need to reinstall the driver for it ..and you will find teh driver Here http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WLH&catid=-1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_1420&hidos=WW1&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=False&scanConsent=False just select the operation system you have on the computer ,,and the camera driver will be on the input device category ...look for creative lab driver ..
please let me know the model to locate the driver ..also I need to know the operation system ... if your camera came with a installation cd and you still have it ..just install the driver ..but be sure you ar e using the right operation system ...most elder ones came with a driver for XP..and if you are using vista or & now ...you will need another driver .. another issue is that the driver is just damaged..and a clean new install will fix the problem ...be sure that the command to open the camera its made from the messenger and not from the all programs ...That AMcap ..is something else...it is for capture.. by the way ...uninstall the old driver installation first ...reinstall a new one ...reboot ..and try to make a video call from MSN ..or invite to view your webcam from yahoo.. it has to work if it is not damaged
Go to Preferences of Yahoo Messenger and specify this webcam as your default camera. Then only will Yahoo look for it. And the webcam has to be installed before that. So,install the webcam and set it up as default in Yahoo Preferences and then use it in Yahoo.
What it sounds like is that you have not set up the Video option in your Messenger or Skype program. If this hasn't been done, it will not broadcast your image . It would help if I knew what Messenger you using. This way I can send you directions to setup the camera so it will broadcast. Personally, I'd use Skype and its free to use unless you make phone calls on the computer. Hope this helps. Bud.
