Press the AF and exposure compensation buttons at the same time for a few seconds.
These are on the top right as you hold the camera. They have small green dots beneath them to remind you.

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong Nikon body.
The D50 buttons are on the top by the off switch and on the back left at the top.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hi there,
There is no monochrome parameter in the D50 as oppose to the D200. You will have to convert using software.
Hope this helps.

Nikon D50 will not auto focus.

Try cleaning the contacts on the camera body and the lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Nikon d50 shutter sticks open and reads err in top lcd

Try taking the battery out for 48 hours while charging it.
then place the charged battery back in the camera.
go to the menu and reset the camera's defalt settings.
If this does not work it will certainly not hurt the camera.
And please send more info about how this happens and when.

Aperture

You need to set the aperture ring on the lens to the minimum f-stop number, i.e. f22,f32. The camera controls the aperture rather than a mechanical setting on the lens
