I keep getting the message "cannot read disc." However, it does read DVDs. I have upgraded the firmware to the latest version 6.20 and I have tried a DVD cleaning disc. But, the player still does not play blu-rays. Any suggestions?
Once you have found that Blu-ray player won't play Blu-ray disc, the first thing is to have a further check on your Blu-ray player because this is one of the main reasons that may result in the failure.

You will need the following:
1) Internet connection
2) Wired router
3) long enough ethernet cable to reach from your blue ray player to the router.
Step 1:
Eject any disks and turn off the blu-ray player by unplugging it.
Step 2:
Attach the ethernet cable to the router and the other end to the ethernet port on the back of the blu-ray player.
Step 3:
Turn on the blu-ray player and wait for it to load all the way.
Step 4:
Using the remote, arrow over to the left to "Setup", the up to "Network Update".
Step 5:
After the unit updates and restarts, repeat until it tells you "Already Updated".
That should help you play the newer movies, and even some of the older ones.
