Question about Canon BubbleJet i905d InkJet Printer

3 Answers

Poor colour I have been very happy with the colour from my printer up until the last few prints. Today i printed a photo of my little boy on his bike. The boy and bike came out close to what it looked like on the screen but the green of the grass looked very yellow and the grey pavement lost all its deffinition and looked blown out yet it doesn't look like that on the screen. Is there anything I can do to improve this? Photos come out with green tinge. Nozzle check pattern shows white lines in E column, the same from top to bottom of the column. Have tried Head Clean and Deep Clean but no change to the E column. Exchanged the Photo Magenta Cartridge to new one from packet but no alteration to the E column. Help

My question is only part two of the above question from quote " Photos come out" etc.

Your answer does not solve the problem of the white lines in the E column.

I have already changed the cartridge to a new one from a new packet.

All ink cartridges are fully functional and none are empty.

Try again. Is it the pulse from the computer to the printer for Photo Magenta colour print?

    Bernie's Further Comment.
Have tried all as per the instruction book as to adjusting the Head Manually, with out any sucess.Have tried the turn off overnight remove power cord, etc, turn on again, also without a fix.

HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM MYSELF. Seems that "refill" cartridges clog up the printer head feed.I removed the printer inks, then the head, and cleared the feed with a spirit alcohol liquid.

    Please dont bill me.

The BubbleJet i905d was a good photo printer, but still not a professional photo printer, therefore problems with high definitions pictures like a photo are normal to a certain extent.
Try changing resolutions setting and see if the result improves.

If the nozzle check result is not good, there may be a clogged ink nozzle or a misaligned print head.Perform head alignment, and nozzzle clean procedure.

If this is not enough, then try using a canon i905d cleaning cartridges.

How old is the printer? it may be time for a new one which arent very expensive but it sounds like yours needs to go in for repair or be replaced

well it sounds like clogged heads, or Nozzle or an elignment problem
Before anything just run a few runs at head cleaning on nozzle and on head checks first and then run a test print to see if all colours are printing out on test paper first.
I would not like to take through the process of stripping the printer gear assembly down just so the heads can be cleaned but sometimes it can be simply that the cheap cartridges are clogged and will need replacing,
There are built in cleaning methods within most printers one will be a nozzle check and the other is head cleaning under the maintenance section in the properties of the printer,
Sometimes I have had to use up some cartridges just to blast out the dried ink
This is costly but sometimes this has to be done.
another method is as a last resort method please let me reiterate LAST RESORT is injecting or tipping in a few drips of methylated spirits 500ml bottle usually purple a little into the cartidges through the bottom hole which is ok because you have already puntured it to let the ink out when you popped them in there again this is last resort please ware plastic gloves put a cloth out hold cartridge upside down let the little bit soak into the sponge inside the cartridge
this is abit trial and error you need plenty paper and choose a print design thats is going to use or need alot of colours set the printer to max colour like for photo and print a few then run a test to see if you are getting all the colours coming through on the test section if you are problem sorted if you are not nozzle check again head clean again, but do not put anymore meths into cartridge just re run nozzle checks and head checks this will propably run the cartridge out but you will have a back up ready, if after all this you are still not getting getting a good quality picture unfortunatly the heads gone and it will have to be replaced.
hope this helps

Poor photo printing

when the printer says that "for best results use Epson Ink." They mean it! otherwise using Xprint cartridges works as well, if changing the type of ink doesn't work then you might have to tinker with the advanced settings (you can change the amount of color used in the print) when you click the properties button in the print screen, ONLY if you know what you are doing!!

Epson Photo R265 Lines every 2.5 cm

Check status monitor see if cartridges are low or nearly empty , if new or full take out all cartridges and soak nozzles upright in cleaning solution overnight , or untill ink starts to bleed out:

Dab dry and re - fit , make up a A4 paper page with 6 colour bands about 1" high x 8" wide and print about 4 to 6 pages ,
check which colours are poor , if improvement is observed run
again a few times:

If one colour is poor take out that cartridge and soak again for a few hours , try again:

If no improvement replace with new cartridge or use a cleaning cartridge ( available on-line ) :

Using the head-cleaning utility shortens the life of the printer as the printer is set to lock-out after a pre-set use of the cleaning facility: and will have to be re-set instore:

How to do print head deep cleaning

Note: Print head deep cleaning consumes more ink than print head cleaning.
Perform this procedure only when print head cleaning cannot resolve the print problem.

1. Display the MAINTENANCE screen. (See How to display MAINTENANCE above.)

2. Use the <up / down> cursor button to select DEEP CLEANING and press the <OK> button.
3. Use the <up / down> cursor button to select 'Yes', then press the <OK> button to start print head deep cleaning.

Note: If the printed result does not improve even after doing print head deep cleaning, turn off the printer. Then, after 24 hours or later, do print head deep cleaning again. After a given time interval, ink could dissolve itself, resulting in ink unclogging.
When the printed result does not improve even after these steps, replacement of ink cartridges may be required.

Just replace the non genuine inks with proper Canon ones and then do about 4 full cleans, that should fix it. If not you will have to replace the printhead, which is usually caused by using non genuine ink. Good luck
