How to change password for wifi

1 - Enter your router's address in a browser window. In the URL field, enter one of the following numbers based on the model of wireless router you use:
  • 192.168.2.1: Belkin, Microsoft, and SMC:
  • 192.168.0.1: Qwest (AKA CenturyLink), Netgear, DLink, Senao, Trendnet
  • 10.0.1.1: Apple
  • If you don't see your router listed here, search on Google for your router name and include "default IP address" to find the correct information.
  • On a PC, open the command prompt (click on Start > Run/Search for "cmd") and enter ipconfig. Look for the Default Gateway line, and try that number.
  • On a Macintosh, open Network (System Preferences..., Network) and look for Router:<number>. This is your router's IP address.
  • Enter your router's user name and password, if requested. Not all routers require that, but if yours does, it should be listed with the documentation. If your router does require a password, but you didn't set one, the default password is usually "admin." You can usually leave the username field blank.

Go to your settings page. It may be called "settings," or "wireless setup," "preferences," or similar name.

Locate the password setting. It may be a field or tab named "password," "wireless security," "security key," "passphrase," etc. If the field is directly editable, enter your new password. Otherwise, click the tab or button to access the password field.

Enter a new password. If there's a second password field, re-enter your password exactly the same way, capitalizations and all. If not, just enter the password once, but be sure to enter it carefully, and make note of it until you have it memorized.
  • When finished, click "OK," "Apply," "Submit," "Save," or whatever button finishes the process.
  • Close your browser window: your password is changed.

Can't unlock admnistrator macbook pro i7 4GB RAM

Boot into Single User Mode and remove a setup file
  • Restart the Mac holding down the Command+S keys, this will take you into Single User Mode and it's Terminal interface
  • You'll need to check the filesystem first:
  • fsck -fy
  • Next, you must mount the root drive as writeable so that changes will save:
  • mount -uw /
  • Now, type the following command exactly, followed by the enter key:
  • rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
    reset-forgot-mac-password.jpg
  • After removing the applesetupdone file, you need to reboot, type 'reboot' and hit enter
Stage 2) Create a New User Account upon System Boot
You aren't finished, but the hard part is now over - no more command lines, you'll now be in the familiar Mac OS X GUI to finish the password reset process. In this step we just create a new user account as if you just got a new Mac:
  • Upon reboot, you will be presented with the traditional "Welcome Wizard" startup screen just like when you first get a Mac
  • Follow the welcome wizard and create a new user account - making the account name different from the account whose password you want to recover
  • Continue on and boot into Mac OS X with this newly created user account, this new user account is an Administrator and has administrative access
Stage 3) Reset the Forgot Password via System Preferences
You are almost done, now you just need to reset the forgotten user account password using the Accounts control panel:
  • Once you are booted into Mac OS X, click on the Apple logo and then navigate down to "System Preferences"
  • Click on the "Accounts" icon in System Preferences
  • Click on the Lock icon in the lower left corner of the "Accounts" preference window and enter the newly created user credentials, this enables you to change other user accounts and reset other users passwords
  • On the left side user panel, select the user account containing the forgotten password
  • With the user of the forgotten password account selected, click on the "Reset Password" button
  • Enter a new password for that user, be sure to include a meaningful hint so you don't forget it again!
  • Close System Preferences and reboot the Mac
  • You can now login to the previously inaccessible user account using the newly reset password! All user files and settings are maintained as before the password was forgotten
Optional: If you'd like, you can delete the temporary account you created to reset the users password. This is wise for security purposes.

How can set my power mac g4 up so as that i'm the owner ....and why can't i download programs,or change my os default broweser

Hi.
I assume that you didn't get any disks with it either. Taking full control without disks is tricky, however you can take majority control - as long as you know the admin password.

Open system preferences (under the Apple menu) and select USERS.
You need to add a new user and to do that you have to unlock the padlock at the bottom-left of the panel that opens up. To unlock the padlock you need the admin password.
Assuming you have it, click the padlock - endter the password and then you can add a new user. Make sure you set it so that the new user can ADMINISTER THIS COMPUTER. Create a new password for the new user. Then underneath the name of the original user you will have the name of the new user and in smaller letters underneath each name you should see "Admin" If you don't see admin under the new user go back and check the Administer bit - NOT Standard User.
If everything is OK so far, look just above the pad;lock and you should see a small penel saying "LOG-IN OPTIONS". Click there and change the auto log-on to the new user name. Now close the windows (red button) and go back to the Apple Menu and select "RESTART"
When the Mac retarts it should come up with a completely different desktop and very few icons. Go back to the USERS control panel and go through the same routine we just used to add the new user but this time delete the original user.
You, the new user, are now in charge. You can download, install and do anything you want but the computer may still appear on a network as "Old user's Co,mputer"
To change the default browser, open Safari, go to Safari preferences and change the setting there. It's an odditty that Apple put the setting there - but there's nothing wrong with Safari as the default.
If you don;t know that Admin password you will need an Installation CD/DVD in order to change it.

Hi ebonybesh...

You will need to start your computer in the "Safe Mode", you do this by tapping F8 while the computer is starting up.
Once the computer has started, select "Safe Mode"
Once you are in the safe mode, then you will double left click on "Start">Control Panel>User Accounts>Change an Account.
Now you can change your password, delete the account, etc.

I love Linux (Zorin OS 4) on my netbook having removed Windows 7 Starter from it. I just HATE that I have to keep typing my password every time I want to download an update or make a change of some sort....

Thank you for using FixYa

I know exactly what you mean because it annoyed me as well. I am using Mint Julia
My solution was to go into the Preferences then Passwords and remove the password and make it a blank instead of putting in any characters. Then in my Gnome Desktop, when it comes on, I click once on switch users and then another mouse click on my user name which is already highlighted, and I am in. That makes it just 2 mouse clicks instead of entering a password, not exactly the final solution, but tolerable. Maybe you could do likewise. Have you tried asking in a Linux Forum, they should have a better solution. http://zorin-os.webs.com/apps/forums/

I hope this was useful and please comment if this was helpful to you.

Your system will not accept the new details which you sent me

I asked a question and Fixya assigned me a user name that I preferred to change, and in the email they sent me were my assigned user name and password, a link to let me log in and make changes, and a contact link. Since you are experiencing difficulty logging in with the details they provided you, please use the contact link to file a description of your problem.

Overnight they had an answer for me that advised that in order to change my user name I had to click on the change password link.

I would suggest that you tell what browser you are using such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, and what version (look under the help menu for "About...") and what operating system you are using (Windows, Ubuntu Linux, Mac OS, etc.) and which version (in Windows right-click My Computer and see Properties), and provide a step-by-step description of what you are doing to try to log in.

Provide any error messages that you see.

The support staff should be able to determine appropriate steps for you to take, or reassign you a new set of credentials.

My issue was solved overnight, and it boiled down to that I did not follow through with the "change password" link to see that I could also change my user name. In most forums the user name cannot be changed, from my own experience.

I hope this helps.

I need to change a name and set up scan to email

As far as the name goes, I assume that it must be a watermark / overlay that is programmed into your printer driver. Go to the printer "properties" and go into "printing preferences" and select "custom settings", and check the watermark/ overlay settings.
There are a couple of different drivers , so the location of this could vary slightly.
As for programming Email?
If you have some addresses programmed and working already?
The easiest way to add more is to open a web browser and type your printer's ip address in the address bar, select "administrator Mode".
The default user name is "admin". The default password is either "password", or just leave blank (can't remember which)
select "address book", then you will see the names of the destination you have programmed. If you highlight one of them and select "change" you will be able to view the settings that need to be made. Then exit out of that page, and select "add" and input the information for the new destination.
If you have not setr up scan to email, you will need to make many other settings in the web browser that I cannot go through, but it involves all of your TCP/IP settings, email settings such as user name, password, SMTP, POP, etc...etc.
Hope this helps.

Resetting iTunes administrator password

Which Operating system is it ?
If you have forgotten the admin pwd then you can try the following :

You need to bootup into single user mode (command+S at startup). It will take you to a command prompt. From the prompt you can do:

passwd user

Where user is the shortname for the admin account (you can lookup the shortname from the System Preferences->Accounts pane before you boot into single user mode). You type in the new password twice .. then type:

reboot

voila.

OR you can try...

At command prompt:
1.type: mount -uw /
2. press enter
3. type: /usr/libexec/register_mach_bootstrap_servers /etc/mach_init.d
4. press enter
5. type: netinfod -s local
6. press enter
7. type: SystemStarter
8. press enter
9. type: passwd root
10. press enter
11.type: reboot
12. press enter
