Does the company that makes this tripod sell the small square part that screws into the camera?

Tripod quick mount plates (the part that is secured to the camera) are specific to tripod manufacturer. A tripod without a mating mounting plate is pretty much worthless as there is no way to mount the camera to it.

You will need to contact the manufacturer (or a reputable camera store) and provide the model of your tripod and the size of the threaded mount in you camera - most are either 1/4" or 3/8".

Good luck!

Need a replacement plate mount

This is a problem, but if you have a camera shop in your area, I suggest you consult with them. I haven't had any luck doing this previously because there are so many different quick release mechanisms and the sizes vary and they look exactly the same. If the shop can't help, go online to Samsonite and try for a replacement from them. If you don't know what it even looks like...you're in big doo doo, but if you do know then you can find them by the look and then measure the sides and the distance from top to bottom (which tells you how big the slot needs to be). The problem there is that many of them are not listed by size but by the part number. If you can get that, it's much easier to look for one. I know....it's ridiculous! for such a little but very significant piece of the tripod. Good Luck

Sunpak 5800d tripod quick release plate. What is the correct position to mount it on the camera and the tripod? Also what is the push button on the plate and how is it used? Thank you

Go to this site and look at the plate mounted onto the tripod, do it that way, so the bubble level is on your side, and the second little push button opposite of you. The second button is there for larger cameras, many video cameras mostly, that have two holes on the bottom, to keep them from swiveling side to side on the plate. Also, makes it easy to ensure you put it on right in the dark, the extra button should go toward the lens. :o)

I am looking for advice on how to mount a Ball Head on the plate of a regular tripod, So far I have not found a Ball Head that has the same size thread in the bottom. Is an adapter available as a solution....

The bottom threads on most tripod heafs are 3/8", but some are 1/4"/ The mounting screws on MOST tripods are 3/8", but I have seen `/4" (especially on monopods. IF:
tripod=3/8 head = 1/4 need mounting plate 3/8 female to 1/4 male
tripod = 1/4 head - 1/4 nothing
tripod 3/8 head 3/8 nothing'
tripod 1/4 head = 3/8 there is an adapter/reducer that screws into the 3/8
' female and reduces that to 1/4"

I have a SLIK Single Action Panhead Tripod. How do I mount the camera on the tripod?

it is a quick release plate. there is usually a button or lever to release the plate. you then screw the plate into the bottom of your camera or camcorder and mount the plate back onto the tripod. you can leave the plate on your camera when you store it to allow for faster setup.

Screwing camera onto tripod quick release

Usually the camcorder has a hole next to the mounting screwhole. The plastic nub fit into the unthreaded hole, the mounting screw screws into the threaded hole. The nub is to help prevent the camcorder from rotating while you are using it on the tripod.
