Tub won't spin. I can get it started by manually giving it a start, but then only spins at about 1/3 speed leaving clothes dripping wet.
You both may have a slipping belt, but not likely. the belt is easy to replace, but you have to get under the unit to access the belt. then just turn the new belt onto the pulleys.
i would guess you may have a drain problem thats causing the unit to not spin properly. make sure the unit is out of water before it goes into the full spin speed, if not then it wont get up to full speed spin.
if it wont drain all the way, then check to see if the pump is plugged with lint or just may have a worn bearing in the pump.

Maytag pav5157aww I have the same problem machine won't spin but I can make it spin same as you but I smell rubber burning sometimes. I'm guessing it needs a new drive belt. Is this hard to replace?
