Re: frigidaire frontload washer
You dont need to buy the shaft, "spider".it has a lifetime warranty on the inner tub and should be replaced by frig. what you need is the entire tub as the shaft is not available seperately. if you cant get this under warranty then i would suggest buying a new unit as the outertub and bearings are what is worn causing your noise in spin. you may have to pay a warranty dealer to get the tub covered, but the whole job is very labor intensive and most people cant do it, even if you are good with tools. call frigidaire and see if they will cover the repairs first.

the spider trunnion has broken apart that connects the inner basket to the rear shaft where power connects from the drive motor to turn the drum, most brands you must replace the inner basket and spider trunnion as a unit, as they are not sold separately it will cost you about $350.00 plus oversize shipping
The symptoms that you describe sound like the spider or support arms of your washer has failed. It the part that holds the wash drum true in the plastic tub. It's a rather difficult job to replace the spider since the washer has to be taken apart to get to the spider. Fortunately, LG does sell the spider, instead of making you buy a new spider and drum. You may need to also replace the plastic tub parts if they are too damaged to be reused. Get a few estimates before deciding whether to repair or replace.
Oh s***! If the motor turns but the drum does not, the drive shaft has broken loose from the three arms which attach it to the drum. (the part is called the "spider") To repair, remove bolt on end of shaft at center of motor. You may have to cut it with an angle grinder, but don't worry about that, because the shaft has to be replaced anyway. Remove motor rotor and stator. Remove washer front, drain hose, fill hose, shock absorbers, support springs, all wires attached to outer drum, and eventually the entire outer drum. Remove bolts between front and back halves of outer tub to allow removal of inner drum. Remove 6 bolts holding 3 arms of spider to back of inner drum. Re-assemble with new spider and new bolt for end of shaft. If you can do it in under two hours, give yourself a big pat on the back. This is about a 8.5 on a 1 - 10 difficulty scale for washer repair. Good luck Mike.
It sounds like the spider arm supports in your washer has failed. The spider arms hold the stainless steel wash drum to the axle. You need to stop using the machine immediately since the wash drum is flopping around the plastic tub. It is an expensive fix. The replacement drum/spider can cost over $300 with shipping. Get a few estimates before deciding whether to repair or replace. Sorry.
Could be the spider arms are broken. You can confirm this by turning the tub by hand, if you hear any kind of thumping sound as you turn the tub, then the spider is broken. The spider is the support arms that hold the wash tub to the drive shaft. It's very expensive to repair.
If there is no thumping sound when you turn the drum, it could be that one of the supports or spring is broken. Hope this helps.
Spider arms attached to stainless steel drum inside of tub have probably broken. This is a known problem with Frigidaire front loading washing machines. The stainless steel drum has a 25 year warranty but this does not include the spider arms. You cannot buy the spider arms separately, you have to buy the unit as one. The drum cost about $250.00 and probably about $300.00 in labor to install. You can do it yourself but it is pretty involved. Good Luck!
wow thats a long hard job ,,overhaul....the part your looking for is the spin tube surport,,you have to take the hold drum out than seperate the front tub from the back bearing tub,,and pull wash basket out though front..,,also if you had a leak or surport broke and is making noise.. change back bearing tub too.i recommend a professional technician...but if you want to do it your self ..post question how to change wash basket,,glad to help
Just had the same problem 1 month ago. My Whirlpool Duet front load made that terrible noise. 2 of the 3 spider arms were cracked. I hade a new hole tub with the spider arm and the shaft , because it is 10 years limited waranty . But if it is not under waranty it costs about 270$ for that tub you can buy it from many appliance parts web sites on the net. Good luck, huge job to all remove that thing
ckd your warranty papers sounds like rear drum support(spider) has broken will require new basket and rear drum half est cost 400-600 spider is not a separate part and rear bearing is probably damaged that too is not a separate part and require rear tub replacement
