Re: One of two problems
Me and another technician have just had a chat about this and the highest chance that you cant use your pc is that you may have a virus.
if there is a virus, it may be using your pc as a server to send spam, emails etc to other peoples computers which is the reason you cant switch your computer off and you cant really use it. it is so you cant stop the virus doing its job and getting rid of the virus
i would recommend disconnecting all networking on the computer, rebooting the computer into safe-mode and running all virus and spyware scanners.

Try taking the battery out. Then with the computer plugged into the AC adapter turn the computer on.
There have been cases where bad batteries were causing odd electrical fluctuations that prevented the computer from working correctly.
If that doesn't work you can leave the batteries out, unplug the computer for a few minutes. Put the batteries back in, plug the AC adapter in and try starting the computer. Its not a full reset but it may help.
You could also try attaching your computer to a tv or another monitor
Hi there. Because the machine is only one month old i would recommend that you take advantage of the manufacturers warranty and send it in for repair, it won't cost you anything to do this as this sounds like a serious hardware problem or failure which is not of your doing. Telling you to open the laptop will only void your warranty so this is not recommended. Your computer will only be away for a week or so and i know it could be a pain not having it there, but for peace of mind this is the correct procedure.
Rarely does a monitor go out due to drivers. Try another monitor and verify that it isn't the computer (it isn't). If the power light goes out it is the power supply (usually inside) the monitor. If the light stays on, it will most likely be the backlight power unit. Browse the internet for the model and parts. Newer units are difficult to find.
Did anyone try to dry up the liquid inside? I've seen customers machines that had wine spilled in them and last a month before finnaly shorting out the system. If you're lucky a tech may be able to recover the data off the hard drive.
I start my computer and turn it on, and everything looks fine for about 1/4 of a second and then it goes black while leaving the power light green. I can only see the screen again after turning it off and on, but that's only for another 1/4 second. What's up? I got my rosewill flatscreen as a hand me down from my father. I've had it for several years now. Was working fine until a month ago. When I turn the computer on the screen goes black after 1/4 of a saecond. I have to turn it off and on anywhere from 10 to 20 times before it stays on. I have checked all plugs to the computer and outlets. I have absolutely no idea whats causing this.
