Question about Brother HL 1440 Laser Printer

"Groaning" sound; then stops printing

Prints for three or so pages, then makes the groaning sound, then stops printing and the red/green lights blink. Can reset but happens again each time. Checked and no paper jam at all.

Could be a lot of things but most probably a shorted high voltage diode assembly. If not that then the magaetron or capactors. Remember be careful there are high voltages even when the oven is unpluged. The capactors are usually charged and must be discharged. If you don't know what yor doing then time to get a qualfied tech.

Good luck

Replace transfer roller

Groaning noise on this model is usually down to third party consumables, Has this noise started after recently( within 5000 prints) replacing one of the colour toners cartridges, If so - you should replace the same cartridge with a HP OEM product and see if this cures the fault 99%of the time third party consumables do not replace key components when Re-Manufacturing Toner/Drum units to save on cost - however this causes Major issues with the expected Life of the Printer as A whole. Added stress on the drive systems due to poor toner units will invalidate any warranty/Repar Cover you may have, Despite what the adverts say CHEAPER toner Units Do Not Give You Cheaper Prints. When light goes out, fan starts inside. Groaning sounds like the fan is hitting on something or has a dry bearing. Spray with wd40 on the shaft

Fridge Freezer makes 'groaning' noises

Sounds like it could be the icemaker . If the icemaker heater is bad , (replace icemaker ) , then it will groan while trying to dump the ice .You can try turning the icemaker off for a day and see if that stops the noise .

Sounds like the power steering pump failing. If it seems to be worse when you turn the wheel at a stop, it is time for a new p/s pump.

Remove toner cartirdge and check gears on cart as well as all of the gears you can see inside the unit for any signs of wear. You may also need to remove the fuser assembly and perform the same task with the gears back there. MAKE SURE THE POWER HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND THE PRINTER UNPLUGGED FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO TOUCH THE FUSER. IT WILL BE HOT!!! Most frequently these kinds of noises from the printer are due to gears slipping. Sometimes simply reseating the fuser assembly or toner cartridge will fix it. If there appears to be excessive wear on any of the gears, you will need to replace them.

Loud Abnormal Sounds with each print job

It may be a paper feed issue. If using a duplexer, try removing the duplexing unit and try printing again. It's often attached to the back of a printer.

Groaning noise on GE side by side refrigerator

Usually the groaning noise is from a locked up icemaker. Remove the icemaker and defrost it with hot water. Check to make sure the unit is in good shape and not chipping. Let it dry out and then reinstall.
