USB Designer 1s use Disk Manager, just like their floppy disk sisters, but it needs to be Disk Manager USB. New USB Des1s came with this program on a CD, and this software was also included free when a floppy disk Des1 was converted to USB. If you bought your D1 USB new, check the disks that came with it - one should be Disk Manager USB. If you purchased the machine second hand, contact the seller and ask for the program. It is a free standing program and you don't need a dongle. Check your 3D software - you might already have what you need. Open 3D, click down arrow for Accessories (far right-hand side) - what does your Disk Manager say? If it says Disk Manager USB you are okay to go.

I am not 100% sure of this, but I think that maybe the last update for 3D software (version 7.25) might have included Disk Manager USB. Go to the Husqvarna website and make sure your 3D is updated to the latest version.

If none of the above helps you, there is always the cheap cost embroidery software alternatives: Embird or Sew What. I believe they can write to Designer 1 USB sticks now.

You need to make sure you have the latest version of 3D. If your CD version is not 7.25 go to the Husqvarna website and download the updates.

Tip No.4 is the one you want. Click on it and follow the instructions. I have 3D Pro working just fine on 64-bit Windows 7. This website was started by the late and very much missed Janice Henning, who was the first Husqvarna embroidery sewing machine guru, IMHO. Thankfully her family are keeping the site up in tribute to her.

You need to reinstall them, they will be on the communication disk that came with your machine or the 4D software cd if you purchased that.

You will have to contact Singer customer service.

3D does not run on Windows 7.

I too have the 3D Studio, which I purchased from an estate sale. Fortunately, I had the serial number, however I don't have the rest of the registration info to change registration for the program updates. It will not let me install any updates. However, it works just fine without them.

I've heard others with the same problem, and there is no way to bypass their protection codes. Their program also comes with a "dongle", which is a product licensing key, that plugs into your USB port. The program will not run without it. Another item that they will not replace if lost.

I had thought about purchasing another program, but really only needed the new generic reader-writer to plug in to my computer. (It must be an embroidery reader/writer.)

Husqvarna will, however, be happy to sell you another program at great expense.

Alternatively, I would suggest purchasing a more inexpensive program --Embird for expample, and the Ultimate Box (reader/writer) and Card , which will be much cheaper than what the Husky people will sell you. Also, there is no "key" to plug in to operate their program.

Hopefully, the seller can find the registration for it somewhere, because without it, it's pretty useless as far as I know. Husqvarna is very good at protecting their products.

If your using Windows Vista, you have to have the multi user account in the off postioin. Also if you had 3D embroidery software and you upgraded to 4D software you have to be sure to uninstall the 32 bit drivers from the 3d for the 4d to work properly.

You do have to install the communication software that came with the diamond also. It won't communicate through the 3d or 4d only.

I can give you a key in return for a working ISO (or any other image file) of the 1.0.0.2 AUTOPUNCH software. My disc is defective and Singer wants $100 for another!

1st try another usb port
2nd uninstall the software and plug the device in only after you have reinstalled the software and you are asked to plug it in. If it doesn't ask then install the software first and try again.

You can also right click on my computer and select manage.
then on the left side of the window select device manager, unplug and plug back the usb dongle and see if any devices appear or disappear also note any yellow ! marks. you may have to press the scan for new hardware button or right click on the window to scan for hardware changes.
