Grinding noise while drum turns

had same kind of problem.. made a horrendeous squealing at times.

turned out the bearing in the back was worn through. It cost me about $40 and 2 hours time, to open it up, clean out the whole dryer and replace the bearing. The works was all easy. It was just time consuming to vacuum and clean the unit to new status.

The bearing on mine, consisted of a big steel ball pivot, attached to the back of the drum with 3 screws, and a plastic bushing it sat in, attached to the back of the dryer.

the trick was finding how to open the dryer up, without damaging it. after that. it was all easy street.
