Question about Canon MX300 Office All-In-One Printer
I'd like the fax machine to receive a fax if nobody is home but return control to my answering machine if it's not a fax. So far I can only make one or the other happen be setting the number of rings on each. The one with the lowest number takes the call.
If I make the fax (printer) answer before the answering machine and it's not a fax, the call doesn't get passed back to the phone system.
If I let the answering machine answer before the fax, it doesn't pass control back to the fax machine if it is an incoming fax.
Contact your telephone provider and see if they can offer you a second number for the line and "destinctive ring".
If your fax unit supports this feature, the fax number can do a double-ring where the normal number does a normal ring. The fax unit would then pick up double-ring calls.
