Question about IO Magic Corporation Hi-Val IDVD16DLSE (788069009119) DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner

Io magic cddvdw showing as dvdrom

I've had this device for a couple months, it's worked great, but as of today, it will not show up as a dvd writer, only as a dvdrom. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the driver, checked the regedit solution I've seen, but there was no value to delete. How do I get my computer to recognize it as a burner again?

Try hooking the unit directly to PC. No hub unless you use an AC outlet or USB I/OYCable Mod # AC-YCAB it requires 2 USB ports for power. With this cable no need for AC Power

Is HL-DT-ST-DVDR AM GMA-4082 NATA DEVICE compatible with VISTA as a DVD writer?

1. Install it and let the installation fail.

2. Go to RegEdit.

3. Locate the following key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]

4. Highlight the key and click File -> Export and save the key in case you need to re-apply it.

5. Delete 'UpperFilters' and 'LowerFilters' within that location.

6. Exit RegEdit and restart your computer.

I didn't have an 'UpperFilters', so I just deleted my 'LowerFilters'. Restarted and magically, my DVDRAM drive was recognized and started working.

My cd rom stopped working. my drivers are up to date. Tsspcorp Cddvdw ts-l633a. running vista home

Spend $40, and buy a brand-new CD/DVD reader/writer, and install it.

Responsibly recycle the "dead" CD-ROM device.

My dvd-rom recognizes the dvd but will not play it

Some only play -Dvds or +dvd's. The new ones do both, but you might of gotten stuck with just the dvd- reader.

Can I play dvds on a hpdvd 1040e external 20x multiformat dvd writer. My husband purchased this because we needed a dvd player and writer for our computer. here and click on start detection for the site to detect your dvdwriter. If it has drivers for this it will guide you to the correctpage. If it hasn't got the drivers there is a manual that you candownload on this site too for your dvdrom. There is also an option tocontact HP for support. This may be your best option.

Have you tried right clicking the device in device manager?
Go to Control Panel>system>Hardware>device manager (if usingXP) or just Control Panel>system>device mangager if using Vista, and click on the + sign next to your DVDrom, click on properties andthen click on update driver. If it asks for your permission to go ontothe internet to search, allow it as it may find the driver that youneed.
Windows should really have picked up the driver for you when you loaded it on your computer.
Another option is to check the jumpers on the back of your hard driveand the dvd rom. The jumpers are little plastic covers that cover pinson the back of the drives, they can be black, white or yellow. Theydetermine whether your drive will be used for Master or Slave. You willsee on the drive what it is set at just above or below the jumper. Somedrives say just say M for master and S for slave other drives sayMaster and Slave. Check your Harddrive, if it says Master then makesure your DVD rom is set to slave, if your harddrive is set to slavethen make sure your dvdrom is set to master. See if these solutionshelp at all.
