How do i know i need a whole new fuse box

You don't mention the year, make and model of the vehicle so, my answer will be as vague as your question.
A gasoline engine needs four things to run: fuel, spark, compression and combustion.
When you turn the key does the starter engage? If no, check for power at both sides of the fuse when turning the key.. If there is no power at the fuse when turning the key, go to the ignition switch. You have isolated your problem.
If there is power at fuse then, go to the starter relay. If there is power going into and, going out of the relay then, check the starter. You have isolated your problem.
If yes, check for fuel, spark (plugs and wires), compression(block, pistons, rods, Intake and gaskets) and combustion (small scale explosion from compressed fuel and spark, thus pushing piston).

Your problem may be with a passive anti-theft system installed by the manufacturer. I wouldn't know because you didn't mention the year, make and model of the vehicle.
Your problem could be with a collision based fuel shut down system installed by the manufacturer but, I wouldn't know because you didn't mention the year, make and model of the vehicle.
Your problem could be with any number of common issues related to a specific vehicle; issues that may been discussed at length on this very site but, I wouldn't know because you didn't mention the year, make and model of the vehicle.

Installing a 1500 watt inverter on a frieghtliner cascadia

You dont want to install directly to the battery as the battery will constantly produce energy draining the battery instead install it to the yellow ignition wire usually accessable under the dash so as it only runs when the vehicle is on You can also usually locate the ignition at the fuse panel

Radio lights do not come on radio doesn't play

First you need to make sure you are getting power to the red wire. Both the red and yellow wires need to have power going to them in order for the radio to work. You might want to go ahead and make sure all of the fuses in the car are good. You should have two fuse boxes, one in the engine compartment, and one under the dash or in a kick panel inside of the car. You may possibly have an inline fuse on the wire harness of the deck if it is aftermarket.

I had a monitor and xbox 360 power supply plugged into the inverter. It has been working for at least 2-3 months now just fine. Then all of a sudden, it turned off. I unplugged it and thought maybe it...

  • First thing I should ask is have you tried to plug something else into the inverter to see if it is the inverter or a surge messed up your monitor and X-Box?
  • When you say turned off do you get a solid red light when the inverter is on and you are trying to get your X-Box and monitor to work? A solid red light means voltage overload.
  • A blinking red light means you are having a current overload.
  • If the internal alarm on the inverter goes off and shuts down with a red light this means you are having a voltage shortage.
  • If the red light starts to blink this is a temperature overload.
  • Keep in mind that this inverter will start automatically back up as soon as what ever issue it is detecting is resolved. There is no fuse to check inside.

  • If your inverter shuts down from thermal overload then wait 15 full minutes before trying to turn it on again.
  • If you don't have any blown fuses and no burned wires make sure that if you are using over 150 watts and hour you go right to the battery rather than a cigarette light adapter as the stress can burn them wires connecting to the cigarette lighter up.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

10 x 5 watt lamps and a 10 mtr run of cable what size cable do i need and what size fuse

10 x 5 watts = 50 watts, and 50 watts at 12 v = 4.17 Amps. You can use a 5A fuse if you want to cut it close, but some lamps have a momentary draw when they're powered up that exceeds their nominal (5W) rating, so I'd suggest a 10A fuse for it.

For cable size, you should be fine with 14GA wiring for a wattage in this range.

Having problems wiring a jensen vm8113 to my '05

any time I would wire an amp in my car I'd hard wire the power to the battery and the remote line would go to the fuse box ( cigg, acc, dome light, ect...)usually on the back of any after market head unit the remote line is blue or blue with a white stripe and most always it will have a connection crimped on the end.

My tripplite pv375 inverter keeps blowing fuses instantly; with nothing plugged in. any help would be appd.

Sounds like it may have a bad power transistor, it will cost more to fix than replace. What is the story behind the question, last time it was used? Who borrowed it? It may have been overloaded ... $40-$70 should get you a new one.

Fues blown in xpower inverter 1750 plus

These fuse are often intend to protect voltage inversion. (reverse voltage)
So, if the eight fuse are blown, then maybe the voltage red and black wire were not connected to the correct polarity.

then again, even if these fuse are intend to be use as reverse protection, it may occure that transformer short out, transistor short out and many other short circuit inside the inverter as occure.

So replacing all eight fuse might not restore the unit function, they may even blow again.
Also, reversing polarity that cause the fuse to blow might have damage the transistor stage.

I am still, investigating few other problem with those unit.
I don't have all answer yet.

Hitheck
