When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.
Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada
Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/
South America
Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian
subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China
The only way to get around the region codes, is to rip a DVD to your computer and remove the region code. Then burn the DVD to a DVD R. There are programs around on the net, but I'm not sure it is legal in all countries.
Google for the programs.
A DVD player sometimes allows you to change the region code once. But it not even would allow you to switch back after you changed it once.
Bad news for you. I found another person asking this same question. Here's the answer: "I did a little research before and again now, there are no available hacks for this model. In some cases the dvd portion can be done with a hack and the bluray requires a chip mod, in the case of this model no hacks are available for dvd. I did locate some versions for sale new as region free units and the reason for that is someone must actually hands on modify the unit to allow such. Its also best practice to use a seperate cheap region free dvd only unit because if you hack the dvd end of a bluray bluray requires updates to play certain discs and features each update usually knocks out the unlock and must be done again but on most units only a factory firmware can be unlocked and once updated cannot be done again. Thus why it is best to have a seperate unit. Sorry for the bad news, if you need any further assistance just let me know. Thanks, Joe"
Change your region to multi-region so it can play discs from any region but please check the instruction manual to ensure that changing the region does not void the manufacturers warranty.
Turn the DVD player on, and press "open" on the remote control or on the machine itself.
Press this code into the remote: 789
Press OK, then press 0. A "0" should appear in the lower left side of the screen. For Phillips, zero is the code number for multi-region. In place of the zero, you can also press the number of the specific region you want to play.

Hello, Please go to codemasters.com , type in the details of your dvd player, there will be several region code hacks ,follow the instructions and this should work for you, basically you are needing to make your dvd player a multiregion player. all dvd players are multi region at time of manufacture, but they are code set for the county that they are shipped to, hopefully this should help. you can also go on to google type in Hack for whaterver your dvd player is and you will get a region code there.
1. Press PLAY from your remote control 2. Press the following button sequence: 1590 2379 390 3. Press PLAY again
This will release the region verification in your home theater (region free). However, some DVDs (multiregion in particular) will not play, since they require region detection from the player unit.
I've done this to my 3090 and been using it like this for 3 years.
i am also looking for a multi zone code for my philips ajl700 , ajl 700 .I just changed my dvd player over useing a code i found on this web site. Every model seems to have a different code.
