Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

Dark screen I am trying to figure out my cousins laptop problem. she has an HP zt1000 and the screen is dark. I used a flashlight to maneuver to the control panel to see if a setting was off or something. Is there a way to change the light or is there even a light in the screen itself? thanks Ryan Burge

When I turned on my HP nw8240 this morning the screen was very dark. I can see faint images in the display only under a brite light. I've tried re-booting, both with menu commands and the on'off button, but no go. I also downloaded the HP diagnostic tool, but it found no errors. The Fn briteness keys don't appear to work at all. I'm totally frustrated at this point.

Hrdlukrnch, your Backlight is out. This is a small tube in your LCD screen for your laptop. (The backlight is a CCFL. Cold Cathode Fluorescent
Lamp)

This is a link that shows you step by step photos, and instructions,
for replacing the backlight on an HP Pavilion zt1000,

http://www.ccfldirect.com/lcdtutorial.html
(The script above the first photo, is too dark to read. It's just general
information, stating changing a backlight bulb, on a Pavilion zt1000)

Quick search,

My apologies. Somehow, I inadvertently submitted the solution, before all information compiled, was ready.

The last sentence was supposed to read...

Quick search just now, I found this website that has instructions, on how to select the backlight bulb you need for your laptop, and a listing of backlight bulbs, and prices.

Try this, on the laptop keyboard on the bottom left cornet, there should be a button that says 'Fn' written in 'blue'

also on the keyboard, there are secondary buttons, if you look on some off the buttons on the keyboard, there are some pics, numbers letter etc written in blue on the buttons, look for one that has a arrow up and beside that on the same button a picture of a sun, when found do this:

Hold Fn and click on that key with the arrow pointing up with picture of sun and tap that button repeatedly to increase back light while holding the Fn button down firmly

I have a CrystalView XT Android Tablet/Netbook. My son tried to dim the brightness on the screen and ended up darkening it out all the way. How can I fix this through the keyboard? As I can't s

i have the same tablet/net-book and also accidentally lowered the brightness past 4/10 of full brightness setting. I couldn't see anything on screen. I found that if i put a bright flashlight to/on the screen, I could see what was on screen, it was dim, but not off. I used this technique to maneuver my way to the settings, display, brightness, and turn up the brightness to where I could see it. I hope this info didn't come too late. IBM Thinkpad R51, screen went dark. At the right screen angle, I can see some light from the windows and cursor, but very faint. At that light angle I can maneuver the mouse and click on windows, so all...

The problem
1 The LCD screen is out or
2 The invertor board behind the LCD screen is out or
3 The backlite is out

You have 2 options
1 To use an external monitor for the time or
2 get the laptop fixed by a tech shop

I HAVE A HP pavillion zt1000 series laptop I havent used it in a really long time, forgot password cant log on or get it to open @ all. Is there anything I can do to get in it, bypassed or secrete...

the easiest way to bypass the password is to start up in safe mode.
Start up with the F8 key pressed. When it has booted, it will show your login and one for 'Administrator'. Click that one, and once you're up and running, go into start menu > control panels > users and change your password.
Save and restart.

New HP 6735b laptop screen has gone dark - can see when using a flashlight close to screen but not generally usable. is this a driver issue or hardware?

Its not going to be a software issue 4 sure. If its new it should still be covered. Send it back either you got a defect screen or the backlight tube is bad. There could be a bad connection between the board and the screen as well. Either way its not a novice user repair job.

My Compaq Presario v2000 will turn on but the screen is just black what do I need to do to fix it?

Can you see any image on the screen in a dark room, using a flashlight sometimes helps. An image will be most visible right after you turn the laptop on, when the logo appears. If you can see the image but it is dark you need a new probably backlight inverter which is a relatively easy and cheap repair - I usually charge less than $50. JC Hunter

If there is no issue with your memory modules and battery the issue could be with the hard drive. I suggest you to perform test the hard drive of your notebook.

Screen is dark (like there is no power on it)

Well if you take a strong light like a flashlight and you can see a faint image. Then the lamp (CCFL) or the lamp's inverter has failed. It should work fine with an external monitor. Still not good though and usually expensive to repair (unless it is still under warranty).

LAPTOP ZT1000 SCREEN IS DARK SEE JUST WHEN IS SUNNY

your problem is a faulty ccfl BackLight Inverter, the display uses the backlight to illuminate the lcd screen, the inverter is used to illuminate the cold cathode light in the back of ther lcd theirs countless places to laern about it on google.
They are cheap to replace google your model with inverter at the end..

The backlight is dead thats why you can only see when in the sunlight.

Laptop screen in complete darkness but external monitor works fine

Make sure to check that it's plugged in on both ends - at the motherboard and on back of the screen.

The other possibility is that your inverter got shorted out somewhere along the way. Try shining a flashlight on the screen - if the cable is plugged in ok you will see a faint imge.
