Canon PC 745 error ''8'' plus zigzag. What does it mean?
I was given a Canon PC 745 copier, missing cartridge, which I just replaced with a new one. Turning on unit, an amber code (next to number of prints indicator)) flashes with ''8'' and zigzag. Any idea what this means? I tried to find a manual online but no luck.

If you are facing Error 5100 then it means that the cartridge can not be detected by the printer. Actually the printer is not actually loading the cartridge and showing you the Error 5100. To solve this error follow the given steps:- First of all turn off printer then remove both the cartridges from the printer.Use a clothe moistened with alcohol to clean the surface contact on the cartridges where the terminals inside the printers touches. E5 means your cartridge error. May I know are you using original ink cartridge or yours has been modified before?
I assume you to refill your ink cartridge before because E5 error won't appear after replacing new cartridge.
So, you need to take out both of your ink cartridge and then use a clean cloth to wipe them. After that, slowly put in back into the printer. If the error is still there after wiping it, try to do it till the error is gone.
I had tested this way with my own printer and it works again without needed to buy a new ink cartridge.
All the best and good luck =)
Error 5 usually means the Cartridge print counter has run out, and now the cartridge needs to be replaced. Make sure you purchase a New, Retail cartridge to replace your current cartridge. Some aftermarket, refilled cartridges do not come with their counter reset, and will come up with this error.
