Voice Activation I just purchased a 2005 A8 and I dont understand how the voice activation works. I get in the car and press the voice button but can not get the car to do what I want it to. It does not reconize any of my commands. Also it keeps taking me on OnStar. Why?

Ref: Audi MMI : The voice commands are in the Operations manual for the MMI. The precondition for MMI Voice Control is a multifunctional Steering Wheel but this does not mean the car you purchased actually has Voice control installed. The easiest way to find out all of these unknown questions about your Used Audi is take your Vehichle ID document which contains the Chassis number, to an Audi dealer. Go to the parts department and ask them to print out a list of the equipment which was installed in your car when it was Manufactured. This list should not cost you anything, but then I purchased my Audi in Europe, the U.S. has it's own bowl of soup. If it's installed in your car, then it should be activated by pushing and holding the Voice button on the right side
of your steering wheel when the Ignition key is on and waiting for a voice/beep to indicated the status of the voice command feature.
There are also preconditions for activation in the users manual for MMI. Good luck.

I have a 2006 A8 and if you need help with the command say "help mmi" or when you are in one of the following modes: radio, CD, or Navigation. you can say "help ." This should provide you with all the commands the voice command can understand.
