Can not connect to enternet

Went through the set up twice changed the username and password for the dsl router. I have wrong spelling in the password now and can not get back to change it. Even with correct spellingI could not connect to enet

What do you have a Linksys router?
Try to do a hard / factory reset of the modem/router, if this is a linksys
you should be able to login....

Connect the dsl modem to port on the router that says Internet
connect 1 pc to any available port on the router(1,2,3,4).
Open your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar
It will prompt for a username/password window. leave username blank,password admin. Press enter
Normally if you have dsl, you need to set the internet connection type to pppoe and put in your username and password that your ISP provided you. then save the settings.

Set wep now cant login to enternet or router, and no lights

RECONFIGURE THE ROUTER:
1. Please remove all the connections from the router. Connect power to the router and then connect a cable from the computer into any of the 4 lan ports on the router. Make sure the modem should not be connected to the router or to the computer.
2. Open up the Internet Browser (Safari, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, etc.).
3. Put http://www.routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm in address bar.
4. On the basic setting page scroll to the bottom and click on Apply.
5. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
6. Click on lan ip setup under advanced.
7. Change the lan ip to 192.168.10.1 and under use router as a dhcp server change the starting ip as 192.168.10.2 and ending ip as 192.168.10.51, click apply and click ok for any popup message that arise.
8. Once the browser display some error message like CANNOT FIND SERVER, ACTION CANCELLED etc, Connect the dsl modem on the wan port of the router and restart the computer.
9. Power off the dsl modem and the router after making the connections.
10. Power on the dsl modem and wait till the dsl light comes on, then power on the router.
11. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
12. Access the router (http://192.168.10.1).
13. Login to the router (Username = admin Password = Password).
14. Click on Setup Wizard and then select "Yes" and Click "Next" on the detection window.
15. It should give you a "Dynamic IP Detected" or "pppoe detected"(type the Username & Password of your dsl account in case of pppoe detection) and then click next.
16. Click Apply.
17. Logout of the router.
18. Open up another browser window and try to access internet.

Switched from DSL modem to Cable modem. Linksys


If you had your linksys router controlling the DSL connection, it was most likely a PPPoe connection requiring a username and password. Most cable companies have dynamic IP address and do not require a username or password.

Open your internet browser, IE, Firefox etc and go to 192.168.1.1 >
Enter your router username and password, typically admin and admin

In the setup tab, change your connection FROM whatever is listed there and make sure it is Autumatic DHCP Save your settings, and restart the router.

You should be fine.

I can not get on the net via my router. I can get out on my laptop directly connected to DSL modem. what am i doing wrong?


That means your router is not yet configured for internet access. If you are on DSL, your modem's IP and router's IP might be conflicting with each other. You need to change the router's IP address. If not, you can simply configure PPPoE settings on the router's admin page. If you can open the router's setup page, look for Internet Connection Type, choose PPPoE and provide the information that it asks you like username and password given by your DSL provider.

No internet connection


This should be connected as so. From wall outlet to DSL modem, from DSL modem to D-Link router, From D-Link router to Laptop via wireless or wired connection. You will still need the DSL modem installed but the wire coming from the DSL modem will go to uplink port on the router instead of into the laptop.

Make sure you disable or uninstall any PPPoE software such as WinPoet, Broadjump, or Enternet 300 from your computer or you will not be able to connect to the Internet. Do not disable until you´ve downloaded the firmware in Step 1. Please make sure that your modem is not also a router. If it is or you do not know, please contact your ISP and change the modem to Bridge mode. Note: In some areas, BellSouth and Verizon may not use PPPoE. Step 1 Upgrade to the latest firmware. Step 2 Take a paperclip and perform a hard reset. With unit on, use a paperclip and hold down the reset button on the back of the unit for 10 seconds. Release it and the router will recycle, the lights will blink, and then stabilize. Step 3 After the router stabilizes, open your web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc), enter 192.168.0.1 into the address window, and hit the Enter key. When the password dialog box appears, enter the username admin and leave the password blank. Click OK. If the password dialog box does not come up repeat Step 2. Note: Do not run Wizard. Step 4 Click on the WAN tab on left-hand side of the screen. Select PPPoE. Step 5 Select Dynamic PPPoE (unless your ISP supplied you with a static IP address).
