Question about Fuji FinePix F460 Digital Camera

Unable to access menu

Just tried taking photos, normally the photos are visible for a short time. This no longer happens. I tried to access the menu, but to no avail. I am unable to turn on camera with right arrow button on rear of camera next to f button. Disp/Back button doesn't work either. I can turn flash, macro and redeye on and off when camera is on Auto. When it is on SP no buttons work except the shutter. When camera is on SP the macro, flash off symbols are on and there is also a symbol of a film cartridge with a C ( I haven't noticed this before). Video also works, but also unable to view it

Screen on Auto and SP also shows 5M N 373 in top right corner

Battery is fully charged

I am able to download photos to my Laptop without problems

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, it would appear that all the hardware perform nominally. This would then indicate that it is the software half that has some glitch. The software/firmware normally could be re-flashed or updated but would require specialize equipment/interface which are not readily available to most user(s).

This then would require the services of an authorized service center for Fuji digital cameras capable of handling your camera's specific requirement. If the cost of repairs and downtime would be factored in, then you may have to re-evaluate your options of having it repaired and/or consider a replacement.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy New Year.

Hi
Use an eyeglass screwdriver to remove the back half of the case. (6 screws, 2 screws each on sides and bottom) When you remove it, the ribbon cable for its buttons comes out just by pulling. You now see the LCD (which is fine), its cable connection (lower right), its power connection (two wires on right). Either these wires have come unsoldered (easy to fix without microsoldering capability) or some part of the power supply for the LCD backlight is bad (very hard to fix, you probably need a new motherboard). When you put the case back on, first you have to plug in the ribbon cable - first open the tiny black plug lock out and around to the left, put the cable all the way in, then lock the black part back right and in. Screw the case back on and you're fine.

Let the battery be charged but if the battery is old it is unable to hold charge and stops functioning so try replacing the battery.also try removing the memory card and reinserting after 2 minutes sometimes this helps.

First, can you please describe this strange icon a bit more? I can't find any icon that matches your description of a "symbol of a film cartridge with a C". Is this one of the symbols shown in your manual on page 9? If not, where does this display - compare its location with one of the symbols shown on page 9.

If you don't have your manual handy, you can download it here.

There are 2 possible problems. One is a physical malfunction with the camera, the other is a software malfunction. If it is software, it should reset when you remove and replace the battery. If that solves your problem, great! If not, please reply with the information I asked for above, and I'll keep working with you to help solve this problem. There may be a hidden battery (stores the date/time), and there may be a way to load a firmware update from the memory card. I'm going to look for more information on these items now.

Sony a200 Flash pops up then flashes as if its shorting and I am unable to take any photos.

Are you shooting in low light? Sometimes the flash will fire multiple short bursts to aid in focusing. If the camera is not in focus, then depending upon your setting it will not fire.

I clear photos off the card, put it back in camera (same as before) but this time it says unable to use card. so i put another one in and it still says the same thing. What is the problem and why can't...

I would suggest trying to format the memory card from the camera menu, not from your computer. If you are unable to do this, and other cards are not working the camera memory card slot may be damaged and unable to make good contact with the cards.

All of the icons are still visible, but otherwise, the screen of my t99 is showing up blank. The camera still takes pictures, but the photos are black and so is the display. Please help! No temperature...

Hi,

This may be due to the CCD Image Sensor failure in the Camera.
To confirm the issue, please check if the previously captured images are displaying normally. The previously captured images and icons will get displayed normally if the CCD image sensor issue is there in the Camera.
If this happens only with the live view, then try Initializing the Camera.

The Initialize option can be done only if the Menu of the Camera is accessible. To access Initialize select MENU-->SETTINGS-->MAIN SETTINGS-->INITIALIZE-->OK.

You may also try power resetting the camera. To power reset the Camera, remove the batteries from the Camera and then press and hold the POWER BUTTON of the Camera for 15 seconds and then reinsert the batteries after 1 minute and check if the Camera works normally.

If the issue is not resolved after resetting, service may be required.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Intermittently unable to review photos taken with Sony A100. Also at the same time unable to access the menu

Is the CF card a slow or counterfeit one? There are lots of cards on auction sites that are branded, but copies with poor quality components. try a known good High speed card. Also check if you have any bent pins in the camera CF slot.

Did you try calling Canon tech support or returning to retailer if the camera is really not functioning properly this soon after purchase, I'd try returning it once all troubleshooting issues have not resolved the issue.

Hope this helps!
