Yahoo freezes every time I try to use my webcam

I had to re-forat my "C" drive. And I reloaded my software (XP Pro, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger etc. Using same hardware I had etc. But when I try to use Yahoo and click on "my wabcam" it freezes and I must shut and reboot my whole system to shut Yahoo down. I tried the regedit fix but it did not work for my. I think it must be the new version on Yahoo is the problem? Oh, also I have the up today drivers for my Logitech ClickSmart 510 and ImageStudio . How can i use my web cam to my PC?

Position your webcam where you want it. Most people choose to position it directly on top of the computer monitor, because this area is closest to the face and provides the most intimate view of the subject.
Set up an account with Yahoo!. This is a site that allow webcam users to communicate with one another. To set up an account, click on "Create an Account" on the main screen. You are asked to enter your name, birthdate, a screen name and a password that you will use for the account
Download Yahoo! Messenger by going to the Yahoo! Messenger website and clicking "Download." Click "Save" to save the Messenger program to your computer. Wait for the program to download. Click "Run" to install Messenger on your computer. A Yahoo! Messenger icon will be installed on your computer's desktop. Double-click on the icon, and Yahoo! Messenger loads. Log in to your account by typing in your selected screen name and password and clicking "Submit."
Connect your webcam with Yahoo! Messenger by clicking on the "Create and Update" tab on your Yahoo! Messenger software. Choose "Site tools" and "Webcam." Select "Start Your Webcam." Your webcam is now connected to your Yahoo! Messenger software, and you are ready to communicate with others by using your webcam.
Use your webcam. Select "Webcam Upload" and "Broadcast" on Yahoo! Messenger. A webcam window will appear on your computer screen. To share what you are seeing on your webcam with other Yahoo! Messenger users, click on "Chat" and type in the screen name of the user you wish to communicate with. Click "Submit." A new window will open to chat with the other user. Click on the video icon on your chat window to allow the other user to see your webcam. To continue or stop broadcasting, either keep the Webcam window open or close it to stop broadcasting.

Can i use it as Webcam? If so how?

It's actually made for point and shoot purposes only. But if you badly need it as a webcam you can try these steps: 1. install the s930 software disc.
2. plug in the camera to your computer via usb.
3. After installation, restart the computer.

If you use Yahoo Messenger, go to preference , then webcam, then select your camera then press OK and test the camera. Same logic applies to other messenger apps.

Disclaimer: Better to use an actual webcam w/c is easy to setup and use

Can't use VPC-CG9 as PC camera.

I don't know why this wouldn't work on Vista HP, but this excerpt from the manual suggests that your XP SP1 Pro would not work without the SP2 rollup:

"Please perform the following upgrades before connecting the camera to a computer.
-Upgrade Windows XP to SP2.
Install Windows XP SP2.
-Install Windows Messenger 5.0 or later version.
Download Windows Messenger 5.0 or later version, and install it.
-If using MSN Messenger, please install MSN Messenger 7.0 or later

Perhaps if you are following the steps exactly in the manual and it still does not work, upgrading Messenger will magically help.

Some cameras can be used as a webcam, however i dont think Kodak thought this through and therefore did not provide software for webcam on the cd.

Is another program trying to use the camera in whatever picture program you are using? windows 98 doesn't have built in photo taking software, so check the settings of what ever program you are using to make sure it is "looking" for the correct camera, if you can read korean handuri is a great solution.

windows 98 is no longer supported for microsoft, so your best solution would be to upgrade to a XP.

Digital Camera BenQ DC C500 as a webcam

Digital camera's do not normally operate as a webcam however I have come across the odd one that can do this. Cameras usually appear as a removable disk to the opperating system. Are you sure your camera can work in this way?
