Question about Maxent MX-42VM10 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

Open Question

Y-SUS board: How to determine if it?s fried?

Maxent MX-42VM11 Plasma.
TV has sound but no picture.
I checked power supply and power assy for voltage and its fine.
I removed the Y-sus board and started checking for continuity, I started with the fuse (good)
Then resistors, I found one very small resistor solid green no markings and it read infinity on two different multimeters. That resistor is locate very close to the fuse area next to where voltage plugs in to the board.
I’m reading about capacitors and how check them next.
Is there anything or a different way I should approach this board?

SOURCE: I checked power supply and

The small green resistor could be a pico fuse, check the markings on the board and look for an F and a number next to it. If that fuse is blown, it means something (Mosfet, transistor) got shorted to blow the fuse. To measure capacitors, you will need a capacitance meter but they rarely become shorted, so I would focus on the mosfets and transistors.

SOURCE: x-sus board replaced year later same pop of death

test the main board next to it- the are usually replaced together sometimes called the scan board-you can check for blown fuses on the x sus and put the back of your hand to the heat sinks- see if they warm up or not (be careful) if they stay cold with set on for several minutes then its dead

SOURCE: when the tv goes pop how do you tell which board

The majority of the time it is the Y Sustain module. I, myself being in the service industry, I always replace the Y drive boards also. The Y main is the large board on the left and connected to that is the y drive boards or board, depending on the model. Check for pico fuses open on the Y and that's a give-a-way.

My maxent p420142x3 has sound but no picture?

ha ha ha this problem is caused by the Y-SUS or Y sustain board (any name is used for it) if you open your tv you coud see around 4 big boards, the left is the Y-sus, if you test its two fuses you can see one of them are blown that means that your YSUS is blow it, the part is 6871QYH953A. and the price is from 35 (the fix kit) to 280. I'm sorry for my laugh but I had the same problem and found it that this model of board is LG and around 18 brands and diverse model of TVs have inside this piece of **** and all of them have the same problem sound and no image.

No picture

If it is a LCD, then the LCD panel is bad. If you are getting sound, it usually means the power supply and main boards are good but the LCD panel is defective.

If it is a PLASMA, it could be a number of boards ranging form the y-sus, z-sus(x-sus), y-drives... You need to check the voltages with a Digital Multimeter to determine what is wrong with a PLASMA that has sound and no picture.

Y-SUS board: How to determine if it's fried?

Your solid green "resistor" is probably a fuse and will have an amp rating stamped on it, if you can read it with a magnifying glass. Before you replace that you need to find out what else on the board or somewhere else in the TV is blowing the fuse. Resistors have bands to denote their value unless it is a large power resistor and the value is written on it.

Maxent MX-42VM11 won't turn on

I had this same problem it turned out to be the secondary power supply. This part is made by Samsung and used in Maxent and Dell systems. The part number is LJ44-00068A. It will range from $89 to $259.99 on Ebay. The Dell pricing is better.
