Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand would depend on the version that you have:

  • flip up antenna - reset button would be under the antenna by the rear of the unit;
  • fixed antenna - the reset button would be at the very bottom under the label/decal.
Both would have RESET labeled.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

If your unit does not have a flip up antenna, the reset should be on the bottom of the unit where the decal is. It's labeled as reset. If your unit has a flip up antenna, the reset buttin is located under the antenna on the back of the unit.

I had the same problem. When you have your nuvi plugged into your cigarette lighter it doesn't charge. Your battery is probaly near dead. I called Garmin and they told me to plug it into my computer via the usb cable. Turn the Garmin off and let it charge for several hours. That did the trick

Garmani nuvi 780 freezes on "updating bluetooth firmware 0%" when turned on

Worked for me but not sure why, I had the same problem of freezing when updating Bluetooth firmware on a Nuvi 770. I chose to reset all user data (press lower tight hand of touch screen while powering on) and next reboot it updated firmware sucesfully. No idea why this worked.

On the back of the unit there should be a reset button, press this in till the unit starts to turn on again.

My Garmin 780 will not turn on

Hi, Try to reset by holding the 'On' button. After the reset if the Map is not loading in the background then it may be corrupted. If you can connect the GPS to the computer then you can call the Garmin support and get the MAPS which you can eventually load. If the GPS is not getting connected to computer then you need to send it to Garmin to fix it. Hope it is under warranty.
Samething happened to me. Garmin service is wonderful, they replaced it..

Garmin nuvi won't turn on

folks, the garmins have an on-board battery that needs to be powered up (at least occasionally) via the usb port - like from your computer. just using the dc car power cord does nothing for this battery. i've had this exact same problem on both my 760 and 780 nuvi units. fixed it using the usb charge. seems to run down differently for all the various nuvi models. my regular charge will hold for 7 hours on my old 660, my 760 and 780 work about 5 hours. my 'power up' failed on the 660 after 10 months with no internal battery charge, but the 7xx models only took about 5-6 months to 'fail.' hope this helps. jack b :-) in midland, tx usa
