Lid switch is bad and needs changing

I would like to know how to raise the top of my top loading Kenmore washing machine to gain access to the switch wiring to remove the switch. Its a Kenmore 110. 24622300 machine. The P/N of the switch is 3949238.

Your instructions were absolutely the only way I could have changed this switch. They were right on the money, except my switch wiring is white and grey with the green gd wire. Thank you ever so much. You saved me a $75.00 service call plus the part expense and it cost me the $32.00 for the part. Again thank you so much. FIXYA.COM is the only way to gop.

My Kenmore 22712 Top load will agitate, but when it switches to the spin cycle I get nothing. The motor wont run and the tub doesn't spin.

open the lid a lttle and close it down a few times,if you don't hear a clicking sound when it closes you have a bad lid switch,or open the lid and stick a screw driver in the hole where the piece on the lid goes down into when the lid is closed, if it doesn't click and the machine doesn't run then the lid switch is bad.,they don't want the machine to run with the lid open when it goes into the spin cycle,if you send the full model number located beneath the lid when it's open on the back panel under the lid.let me know how you make out

How can i change top load door switch?

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.########) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

It sounds as if your lid switch is jammed or broken.

Go to the section on the Sears site for the Top and Cabinet parts and you should see the Lid Switch.

See the following for how to release the console and remove the cabinet to gain access to the Lid Switch.

LS error

The machine control detected that the lid switch is not functioning properly. Raise the top part of the washer to gain access to the lid switch.

Disconnect the machine from the power source. Gently pry the emblem from the front of the machine and remove the T20 torx screw hidden behind it. Slide the top of the washer forward and raise its front. Prop it up high enough to allow easy access to the lid switch.

The lid switch is activated by an actuator (part number 19119) mounted on a hinge. It will not work properly if the actuator is damaged.

Check the operation of the lid switch using a multimeter. Disconnect the lid switch wiring harness and connect the test leads of the multimeter (set to X1 or ohm) to the terminals of the lid switch and activate it. The multimeter should read zero ohms while the lid switch is activated and open when deactivated.

Replace the lid switch if it is broken or if it fails the test above. Remove the lid switch mounting screw and install the new lid switch. Reconnect the wiring harness and slide the top of the washer back into position. Reinstall the T20 torx screw and the emblem.

Door switch is probably bad or connection is loose. Remove the top cover to gain access to the switch.

I have a kenmore 111 series. the top of the agitator is not working like it should. It does not move. Help

Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, the washing machine may not agitate or function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

I am assuming there is no noise coming from the machine, if not check the lid switch. open the lid and look for a small slot in the top of the washer. With the washer set to run, press down on the slot with a screwdriver or something (make sure everything is clear from the tub) see if there is a clicking sound when you push down. If the machine starts you need a depressor piece on the door. if there is no clicking sound you may need something else. lets start with the simplest, like the door switch and go from there.
