The camera batteries died while using it. The lens remained extended. Wasn't able to replace the batteries right away. A few days later replaced the batteries with NEW batteries and the camera won't turn on.

Go to store and purchase a memor card reader/writer. It will allow you to put your memory card in it and download the pictures to the computer via the usb port. Make sure the reader/writer is made to accept your type of memory card.

Hello. I want to purchase a nikon coolpix S3000 model camera but my friends told me that this model of nikon has lens problem..so i want to confirm this. plz help me..thank u

I work at an authorized Nikon service center and I don't see many S3000 models coming in for repairs. Most camera point and shoot models that have an extending lens are subject to lens errors. Most of those errors are also a result of shock or impact and not manufacturer's defect. Hope this helps!

Pauses between takes

THE PAUSE TIME YOU ARE TELLING IS THE TIME TAKEN BY CAMERA TO READY AGAIN. YOU CAN NOTICE THAT WHEN YOU SHOOT PHOTO WITHOUT FLAST/OUTDOOR IN DAY TIME THAN IT DO NOT TAKES TIME PAUSE. WHEN CAMERA USES FLASH IT WILL TAKE TIME TO BE READY FOR NEXT SHOOT. IT IS NORMAL

My Nikon Coolpix 4600 will take 1 photo, then refuses to take anymore unless it's turned off and then turned back on. When first turned on the flash and AF LEDs go on. After 1 photo is taken, the flash...

I visited a brick-and-mortar camera store and asked a repair specialist. There I learned that the problem with my camera is a firmware problem and not worth fixing. I'll throw away the camera and buy another $150 disposable camera.

Nikon coolpix 4600.

Hi I found this info on the Nikon Australia website:

"System Error" or "Lens Error" message in LCD monitor trnsp.gif Question My COOLPIX camera displays a "System Error" or "Lens Error" message. What should I do? trnsp.gif Answer Having a "System Error" or "Lens Error" message displayed on the camera's LCD monitor would generally indicate that your camera needs servicing. A System Error is a general error which can be caused by many things: lens problem, CF Card problem, general camera failure, etc. To troubleshoot, please try the following:
  1. Use the memory card that originally came with your camera (or a Nikon approved card).
  2. Remove and replace the battery.
On the other hand, a Lens Error generally means that an error has occured during the lens operation. To troubleshoot, please try the following:
  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove and replace the battery.
  3. Turn on the camera.
If the above tips do not help, your camera must be sent to our Nikon Authorised Service Centres, there are no user serviceable parts in our Nikon COOLPIX cameras. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and we will do everything to repair your Nikon camera as quickly as possible. Click Here for our Nikon Authorised Service Centres details.

Seems you may just have to remove and replace the battery - sort of like a Windows Restart to fix a computer problem! - this would reset your camera's memory.

Hope this helps.

Anything you would try to do yourself would void your warranty. I suggest taking the camera back and see if they won't give you a replacement.

Usually, zoom errors occur when the lens is extended and gets bumped or dropped. Liquid and or sand can also cause these problems
