I have an HP Pavillion DV5-1125NR Entertainment Laptop. I have the touch screen above the keyboard and the wireless button is there. I had my fan replaced and now that wireless button will not respond -...

You need to take it back to whomever replaced the fan because the wireless button ribbon came loose and it is simply not activating your wireless device as it should. These are ribbon cables typically that are flat and slide into sockets that then lock in place. When it was taken apart to fix the fan, they obviously did not get it slid back in properly or forgot about it all together.

You can use the wireless button or HP Connection Manager (select models only) to turn on and turn

off wireless devices.

controls. Refer to the Getting Started guide for information on identifying the location of the wireless

button on your computer.

To turn off wireless devices using HP Connection Manager:

? Right-click the HP Connection Manager icon in the notification area, at the far right of the

taskbar, and then click the power button next to the desired device.

- or -

Select Start > All Programs > HP > HP Connection Manager, and then click the power button
next to the desired device.

There is wireless switch - either under the screen or on the front of the computer. Find it and check position of the switch. Usually, there is light next to it. Good luck!

How do i unlock my internet so i can acess wireless off it

Are you trying to connect a wireless capable device to a wireless connection?

If Yes of if unsure, to connect a WiFi capable device to a wireless connection you will need the following: a cable modem, a wireless router, Ethernet, a WiFi capable device.

You would connect the wireless router to the modem follow the installation manual instructions for the router to properly setup the router, different brands require different setup procedures.

Once the router is up and running find the SSID (wireless network name you gave the wireless router during setup) for the wireless signal. Click on the SSID in the list of available networks and enter in the passphrase when prompted to.

If all is successful you should connect to a wireless network

Let me know if that helped or if you need additional information or clarification.

Kindly check if the wireless in the laptop is turned on by pressing Fn+F2.
Look for wireless switches in th front or sides.

Look if the wireless light glows or not.

Try to go to device manger. Disable and enable the wireless device.

Uninstall the device in the device manager and in the control panel and reinstall the same by downloading the software from the manufacturer website

HP dv1000 laptop and internal wireless modem

Although you have internal wireless, you are capable of attaching an external wireless device. For example, you could attached a D-Link WUA-1340 USB Wireless G adapter (http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=477), or, if you have a PCI port, you can use a Linksys WPC300N Wireless-N Notebook adapter (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1144763513196&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=1319686869B07). Either device with any brand will work just like your internal wireless. In fact, because you chose to use an external device, you may get a better wireless signal. Because internal wireless devices are inside the computer, it is more difficult to received a signal than with an external device.
