"Invalid Video Found" HDR-CX7 and VRD-MC5 DVD Recorder

This DVD Recorder touts itself as being so simple and yet when I plug the Handycam up to it via USB cord and hit the record button I get this error message "Invalid Video Found. Recording stopped."
I have read over the 2 operating instructions for the 2 products and can't seem to find an answer.
Has this been addressed here already?
Thanks.

I have the VRD-MC5. It won't accept the video from my Sony Camcorder, giving a similar message to "Invalid Video Found". On tv they say you can use any video camera. The manual lists two models of Sony cameras. It says to push the Easy Dub button which my camera does not have. I connected them using the USB connection. I wonder if there is any work around for this situation or if they lied on the commercial when they said you could use any video camera. It does will with the memory stick and with the VCR, but what I wanted it most for was getting the family events onto DVD, and so far no luck.

The same happend to me. The camera contains informations of videofiles, which are no more present on the camera (were deleted from a computer). You are not able to record in full disk mode, or any other mode, which includes these videos. These missing files can be easily recognised, as the camcorder is not able to play them. Try to get rid of these "files", or ommit them from the recording list.

Hi,

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How can i buy all the cables to the sony vrd-mc6

Yeah most common problem that consumers encounter. Recently I adquire one for my production company. yeah, I search around and the best site was amazon.com. Depending in your camera model you would have to chec if is rca videos plugs type or Dv to Dv, USB, or IILink, in my case from my Sony camera to the Sony recorder I use the Dv to Dv. Just chec your specifications to make sure.
Amazon.com has one of the most wide variety in cables that I have found in the internet one place and affordable.

Motorola VIP1216 DVR and Sony VRD-MC5 Connections for Recording?

I have the same problem currently. I have successfully recorded to the Sony CM5 in the past from my DVR, but no longer can. I have Comcast and wonder if they have changed the DVR firmware and blocked output. Also some broadcasts have something in the signal to stop recording. I got half of my program done, and can't record the rest on DVD. I will try to DVR local news, then record to the Sony, to see if it's a signal issue or something with the Sony. I haven't tried to record from a VCR.

Both pics and movie to one disk

first, import your camera photos and video to computer
second, use a dvd slideshow software to combine videos and photos to slideshow and burn to dvd
finally play your camera photos and video on TV. You will experience more with good DVD authoring software.

Chapters & DVD menu

This is not a solution to your problem; but i can assure you that chapters do burn on my Sony Multi-Function DVD Recorder VRD-MC5. And, on viewing via a DVD player, work well.
