Question about Weather King 12AJA4801AH Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Weather King 8PJ10NDR01 When I turn the heater switch to ON position the furnace runs what sounds like an internal fan. Second, the igniter glows and when it reaches it's hottest stage the fan thrusts air through the air ducts / vents and the burners light for about 30 seconds to a minute blowing cool air. After a period of about 30 seconds to a minute the burner turns off. After the igniter and burners repeat this about 2 times the heater shuts down by it's self, even when the temp gauge has not reached the temperature setting.

The gas valve is not sensing flame, and the unit shuts down on safety.

Chances are the flame sensor is bad, its a common problem.

If its a thermocouple you can buy one for 10 bucks, If its a newer style they can usually be had for less than 30.

They are easy to replace ad they are usually installed with two screws and one to two wires.

They sit directly in the flame pattern in front of the burners.

A service call should only cost you 250 or less for the repair, but you can do it yourself for less than 50 (including gas to drive to the HVAC supply house that sells your brand unit.)

You will need the model and serial #s when locating the parts.

When thermostat turned up furnace ignites, heats and fan starts when plenum is up to temp. When thermostat is turned down flame goes off but fan continues to run.

If your furnace is relatively new, as in 10 years old or less, there should be a field adjustable 'cool down' cycle. On the circuit board there should be a dip switch or series of dip switches with 30, 60,90,120 indications. These numbers represent the length of time the relay on the circuit board allows the fan to run AFTER the thermostat satisfies. You may be able to adjust the time frame down one position from where its positioned now.

The second possibility, if the blower never shuts off at all is that the relay itself could be stuck in the closed position and keeping the fan on.

I have a Braeburn 3200 and when the the temperature reaches the desired heat setting. The furnaces heat will shut off, but the fan will continue to run indefinetly. eventually blowing very cold air up

The fan relay is stuck in the on position. When the temperature drops the heater does not ignite because the fan is already running and ignition is locked out after the heat cycle starts an the fan turns on

Weather king select furnace

At the opposite side of the burners from the igniter there is a small metal probe/rod situated where the flame would blow across it during operation. This rod is for flame verification so the gas valve will know that the gas is being ignited. Often that probe will get carbon built up on it which will cause the furnace to light but then abruptly shut off because "the probe doesn't know there is a flame there". A fine grit sandpaper works well to restore it's conductive ability. However, if the furnace runs for a while before it shuts off you could very well have an obstruction in the vent pipe or an obstructed indoor coil. If cleaning the flamerod doesn't remedy the problem, I strongly recommend a qualified serviceperson look at it! The furnace could well be turning itself off because something is getting too hot and coming back on when it cools. Good luck.

Weather King blows fuse in Criterion II furnace

You probably have a shorted wire between the heater and the a/c. There are two wires that conncet the control power to the outdoor a/c from the heater they should be on terminal c & y in the heater. disconect those two wires and try it again if the fuse doesnt blow you have a short in the wire between the a/c & heater

Weatherking furnace flashing 5 times.......

Sounds like it it isn't the igniter but probably the pressure switch. You can only tell by the clicking noises as they system goes through it's safty checks prior to the call to the igniter.

Weather king works for 15 seconds and stops working

If you are talking about a furnace the problem sounds like the flame proving device located at the end of the burners. Looks like a solid wire hanging down into the flame. Take some steel wool and gently remove the carbon that has built up on the surface. Don't get rough with it as just a mild touch will be good.

What part do we replace first?

Door safety switch. You are sure you have power to furnace? jump out the G and R terminals on the furnace control board or turn your thermostat to Fan On to check. Make sure the door safety switch is in the closed position. Fan should come on. No fan, no power to unit. Check Emergency switch, circuit breaker and there may be a fuseable link in the wiring somewhere either above the unit or a condensate safety switch. Get power to the unit. Also check to see if there is a small fuse in the wiring inside the furnace or on the circuit board.
