Question about Hampton Bay 24002 Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

Reversing rotation I want to get my fan to rotate clockwise for winter. The fan is quite high. I need to know where this little switch is that reverses the blades so I can position my ladder and reach it without becoming a statistic of "help I've fallen..."

The tech told me whre the switch was and at some point this winter I will get a very tall ladder and switch the fan over to clockwise - not a very good design on Hampton Bay's part.

Fan has a switch for winter and summer. Is it up or down for summer?

This is probably a reversing switch changing the rotation direction. Check the air flow from the fan to find if it is pulling air up or pushing it down. Pushing down from the ceiling will be the 'winter' setting, pulling up, the summer. Since warm air gathers at the ceiling, it is beneficial to have it move that air downward during cold weather and have it pull up cooler air from the floor in summer. I frankly don't notice much difference though.

I HAVE A HAMPTON BAY CEILING FAN. MODEL FAN-2R

On the body of the fan motor is a small sliding switch(up and down), if you cannot reach it you can use a broomstick to carefully change it's position.

Fan won't reverse to counter clockwise

I had a hampton bay fan that absolutely did not have a revers switch on the fan anywhere! MOST fans bought today will reverse. I was not about to give up. I scoured the net for an answer and could not find anything to help. I did however find a comment somewhere that said it could be done internally. After about six months I decided to search again (now). Nothing... so I started playing with the remote and the wall switch and Shazaam! I figured it out on my hampton bay fan. Turn the fan on high... Turn the wall switch off.... wait until the fan is pretty slow in rotation... hold the HI button on the remote.... Turn the switch back on. IT Worked for me! Hope this helps someone. SparqMark

Location of reverse switch

There should be a little black switch in the center of the fan. That is to reverse rotation. Make sure the fan is off when you switch it.

1st two speeds not working

If the fans rotate on high, then they can rotate on low. So it's either the remote or the receiver that's not succeeding in adjusting the speed. You might try changing the dip switch settings to a different combination and see if that helps. Otherwise, my first guess is that it's the receiver since it has the "brains" of the unit. Also, with electronics it sometimes helps to completely remove all sources of electricity for a minute in order to reset everything. That would mean turning off the circuit that powers the fan for a minute then flipping it back on.

Hampton Bay Cessna 04313 Ceiling Fan--reverse

If there is not a little switch on the side of the non-rotating part (below the blades) then your fan is not reversible.
