Question about Hotpoint RVM1325WW Microwave Oven

Alternate doors I could use to replace door on GE JVM1542WF001

My microwave was slightly damaged by a fire. (Wife left a dish with oil in the oven). I need to replace the door and the top ventilation window.
Can I use a different model door to replace mine? I heard other people that replaced their doors with a different model but I want to know which model is good for use as replacement

I would absolutely not recommend it if it's not the same part.

If the door is not aligned and tight, microwaves can leak, posing a risk of damage to the oven, skin burns, and fire.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

You can just replace the bad parts instead of the whole door.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove to get the door apart.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

The door switches are slightly out of alignment. If you run the microwave and shift the door up or down, the micro might begin working..
The control panel must be removed and the door switches adjusted. I would not suggest you doing this yourself, as it may affect the microwave leakage through the door gap.

Sagging microwave door

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

If the door seal is damaged or out of alignment, there is a chance of leakage, which can cause burns, damage to the oven or even a fire hazard.

GE Profile Spacemaker Microwave

Absolutely. That's why they make shop bulbs to use in one's portable garage work light and garage door opener.

Slamming the door of a microwave is never good idea!

Another factor is touching the new bulb with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

One way is to separate the door panels, bang out the dent from the other side, then burnish the area.

Otherwise, you can replace the damaged piece. You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

If she's really the forgiving type, maybe she'd settle for your placing over the dent a little magnet or sticker that says, "I love my wife"? *GRIN!*

Door Hinge replacement requires a Microwave Radiation Leak Test be performed after repairs.I am surprised they would sell you the part knowing this. You should have this repaired by a professional for SAFETY sake.

When you remove the door, it's absolutely critical to get it back on exactly as it was, or microwave leakage can result. I only recommend removal of the door in cases of several damage or when separate door parets are not available. Door parts should be available for this model. You can find an exploded view of this model by entering your full model number at the GE parts Web site at: http://www.geappliances.com/shop/prts/ The exploded view should give you some idea of how it comes apart and goes back together.
