Question about IBM Infoprint 1567n Laser Printer

Laser printer melted cord

Plugged in recently purchased, refurbished, ibm infoprint 1567n printer, within the first minute the cord started smoking, employee yanked cord from machine, cord was breaking down and melting. There was a loud pop and huge spark as they pulled plug from machine. The cord sent with the machine is a 10 amp cord, on a twenty amp breaker, machine says it is 11 amp. IT was obviously pulling much more than 11 amps to break down a cord so quickly. I realize there are fuses and boards but the fuse may not have blown to protect unit. Question: Do you have any idea as to what malfunctioned to cause the unit to pull so much power so quickly? It there a way for me to check the fuse to see if it popped. Any other suggestions would be great.

Just thought I would post the answer to this problem in case someone in the future has the same issue. I hired a repair man and watched him open the machine testing parts as he went. When we got to an electronic board inside, we noticed it wasn't screwed down. The previous person had tacked it in place but not gone back to actually screw down the screws. The repairman stated that could possibly pose a grounding issue and if we were lucky, that would be our problem. Long story short, we screwed the board on correctly and the machine has worked fine ever since.

Hi, I have an IBM Infoprint 1352 and it keeps having a 925 fuser error, the Fuser and LVPS (low voltage power supply) have both been replaced and the error comes back within a day or less. Any ideas?

Okay, I need some additional information from you and I have a couple of suggestions for you.

First, is your printer plugged directly into a wall receptacle? If not, plug the printer cord into one.

A couple of other things could be going on. The fuser that was used may not be the correct fuser. This can cause the fuser sensor to report an error based on the wrong heat lamp inside the fuser.

The system board (motherboard) may be reporting the error incorrectly/ In which case the motherboard should be replaced.

The fuser sensor may be defective.

If the repair was completed by an IBM Certified technician, then there is a warranty period associated with the repair. Call your local IBM Office and ask for a service manager and issue a complaint on the repair activity.

IBM may in turn refer you to a TSS manager or choose to handle the complaint on its own. When I was a field tech for IBM, the goal was first time final, so I imagine that they will be very concern that the tech has been there twice and yet the failure is the same.

Good luck Don

IBM Infoprint 1532

There is probably a small piece of paper in the back of the printer in the fuser. Shutdown the printer and wait a few minutes as this part is hot. You may need to remove a few screws to take off the back cover and check inside the fuser.
