Question about Medion MD-1704 PC Desktop

1 Answer

No help from the company.

I purchased my medion md-1704 about 3 years ago and when I booted it up the first time it ran all the programs that were preinstalled but it would not allow me to add any new programs and kept giving me an error message saying something like there was a missing file on the source disc of the program I was trying to add. When I called the company they knew just what the problem was and gave me a website to download a patch which fixed it. A few months ago I reformated the drive with the factory disc which came with the computer and though it fixed the current problem it brought back the original problem and will not complete the loading of any new programs. Now the company says it knows nothing of this problem. A friend told me that he had heard the patch was to fix a compatibility problem the mother board had with windows at the time and that the company fixed the motherboard problem shortly after my computer was made.

Re: no help from the company.

Hi, can you pls try getting the motherboard details (model #/bios version/date of manufacture). This is normally (but not always) displayed at powerup after videocard info. If it is too fast, press Pause and copy the details. Bios version is normally on top while mb model is at the bottom. To continue booting, press escape. Another method is to run Bios Wizard @ or CTBios @ These are not your patch but are only utilities to determine bios and/or mb info. Pls post details soon as you have them and perhaps we can work from there. Good luck

I can't find drivers for my medion md-1704 computer

hi there, to help you, you will more than likely need to contact the company to get the drivers for your computer, the disk the company sends you will have the configuration for all components and hardware that comes with it, ususally, the cost is like 20...for the recovery disk and or restore disks.......this would be alot safer since you don't know from whom the drivers will be downloaded, or if it will be for others to control your computer without your ok, .....good

Crashed desk top been reformatted wontaccept medion system files

Seems like you will need to get your hands on a restore disk or windows installation cd for the version you have.

You will need to either restore the computer to the original state or install a fresh installation of windows from the setup cd, after that you need to get the drivers for the computer from medion support.
