The car has been sitting in the garage for about 6 months, without moving it. But rountine starting it on a monhtly basis. The other day in months I decided to pull it out the garage and go around the block. As I proceed everything was fine as I returned back home for driving for about 30 mins the car stops and slowly slows down. I put the car in park and tried to put it in drive again. The car didnt move. I put it in reverse and it moved backwards. I put it back in drive and it didnt move also tried OD and it didnt move. I dropped it all the way down to the #2 gear and it moved forward. I drove it home and now I am trying to figure out what could be wrong. I did notice that the trans fluid was a little low. But I filled it and I am still not getting a drive or OD gear to make the car move.

try putting a plug-in magnetic heater on the transmission if you know in advance that it will be that cold. your fluid might be too thick to perform its hydraulic duties. maybe a new filter too, which is located inside the pan.

What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.
SOURCE: transmition stuck in drive
sounds like shifter cable busted... pop the hood and look at drivers side, have another person move the shifter so you can locate the cable... then find the arm coming off the transmission move it all the way one direction it will be either park or low range and that should get you moving again...
